Cloud Financial Analyst – FinOps Engineer

Job Functions:

AI-Enabled Cost Optimization & Automation

  • Create AI-assisted scripts (using Python, PowerShell, or Terraform) to identify unused resources, forecast consumption trends, and suggest optimization strategies.
  • Integrate cost and usage data into enterprise analytics platforms (like Snowflake and Power BI), employing AI or machine learning models to improve accuracy and trend detection.
  • Implement intelligent tagging compliance and anomaly detection to automatically highlight any deviations in spending patterns.
  • Work alongside engineering and SRE teams to embed AI-driven insights into CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure lifecycle management.

Financial Analysis & Intelligent Reporting

  • Design and maintain dashboards that present complex cost data through AI-driven insights, predictive models, and automated summaries.
  • Utilize AI tools to summarize cost insights in formats suitable for leadership, emphasizing key trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to develop AI-assisted forecasting and budget variance models tailored for multi-cloud environments.
  • Enhance enterprise FinOps scorecards and monthly executive reports through automation and natural language summaries.

Governance & Collaboration

  • Establish and uphold cloud tagging and cost allocation policies, leveraging AI for compliance monitoring and data quality enhancements.
  • Cooperate across Finance, Procurement, and Cloud Operations to align cost optimization initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Support modernization efforts by applying AI-driven analytics to assess total cost of ownership and ROI scenarios.
  • Contribute to the FinOps maturity roadmap, integrating automation and AI capabilities to drive continuous improvement.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 4-7 years of experience in cloud engineering, FinOps, or infrastructure financial management.
  • Previous roles may include Cloud Cost Engineer, FinOps Engineer, or Technology Finance Analyst.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud financial management and a comprehensive understanding of cloud billing and pricing models (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Strong proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, PowerShell, Terraform, or similar).
  • Working knowledge of AI and machine learning tools for data analysis or forecasting (such as Python ML libraries, Azure ML, AWS Forecast).
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Snowflake.
  • Familiarity with FinOps Framework principles and best practices in cost governance.
  • FinOps Certified Practitioner (FCP) certification preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field.

Skills:

  • Expertise in cloud financial management across various platforms.
  • Ability to leverage AI and machine learning for effective cost forecasting and anomaly detection.
  • Competency in scripting and automation with tools like Python, PowerShell, or Terraform.
  • Data integration and analytics experience with Snowflake or Power BI.
  • Financial modeling and forecasting utilizing statistical or AI-assisted tools.
  • Proficiency in establishing governance and cost allocation policies.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions.
  • Skill in communicating complex data for executive insights.
  • Strategic mindset connecting technology investments to business outcomes.
  • A continuous improvement approach focused on automation.
  • Adaptability and enthusiasm for emerging AI technologies.
  • Influential in matrixed environments.
