Cloud FinOps Analyst Contract Washington, DC We are seeking a data-driven Cloud FinOps Analyst to join a premier enterprise client in Washington, D.C., and drive financial accountability across a sophisticated multi-cloud ecosystem (AWS, Azure, and GCP). In this high-impact role, you will bridge the gap between engineering, finance, and executive leadership to ensure every dollar spent in the cloud delivers maximum organizational value. You will be responsible for maturing the FinOps lifecycle—Inform, Optimize, and Operate—by identifying cost-saving opportunities, governing cloud usage through advanced tagging and policy enforcement, and providing actionable insights that turn complex billing data into a strategic roadmap for growth.
Core Responsibilities
- Cost Optimization: Develop and execute FinOps strategies across AWS, Azure, and GCP, performing continuous usage analysis to identify rightsizing and cost-efficiency opportunities.
- Anomaly Management: Investigate and respond to cloud cost spikes, collaborating with Cloud Solutions and Application teams to mitigate financial risk and prevent recurrence.
- Governance & Guardrails: Design and enforce cloud governance frameworks to ensure cloud resource deployment aligns with organizational standards and industry best practices.
- Financial Reporting: Support the end-to-end cloud financial process, including cost allocation, chargeback/showback models, budgeting, and monthly forecasting.
- Stakeholder Partnership: Act as a subject matter expert for cross-functional teams to improve asset management and enhance overall cloud resource utilization.
- Strategic Growth: Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and FinOps methodologies to continuously evolve the organization’s cloud financial operations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of AWS and Azure cloud resources, pricing models, and associated usage costs (GCP exposure is a plus).
- Tool Proficiency: Hands-on experience with enterprise cloud management and FinOps tools, preferably Apptio and CloudAbility.
- Analytical Rigor: Proven ability to analyze complex cloud billing data and translate it into clear, actionable executive insights.
- Project Leadership: A track record of successfully managing multiple concurrent projects within a large-scale, multi-cloud enterprise environment.
- Certification: FinOps Certified Practitioner (FCP) preferred; strong knowledge of the FinOps Framework is required.
- Communication: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to provide expert guidance to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
