What you’ll do: Senior Cloud FinOps Engineer Specialist in the Enterprise is responsible for end‑to‑end financial governance and optimization of large-scale multi‑cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), managing annual cloud spend exceeding USD 5M+, and leading a FinOps team. The role partners closely with engineering leaders, architects, finance, and business stakeholders to drive cost accountability, improve unit economics, and embed FinOps best practices into cloud operating models.
- Own and govern enterprise cloud spend across AWS, Azure, and GCP, managing an annual cloud budget of $5M+.
- Drive cost optimization initiatives across compute, storage, data, and managed services with measurable savings outcomes.
- Define and enforce FinOps governance frameworks, including tagging standards, budget controls, and showback/chargeback models.
- Partner with architecture and platform teams to influence cost‑aware cloud design decisions during migrations and new deployments.
- Build and maintain cloud forecasting models aligned with business demand and growth plans.
- Deliver monthly executive‑level dashboards and reports highlighting trends, risks, anomalies, and optimization opportunities.
- Perform variance analysis and root cause investigations for unexpected spend spikes and communicate findings to senior stakeholders.
- Support annual budgeting and quarterly re‑forecasting cycles in partnership with Finance.
- Lead strategy and execution for Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, Committed Use Discounts, and other long‑term commitment programs across clouds.
- Track commitment utilization, expirations, and renewals; provide data‑driven recommendations to maximize ROI and minimize waste.
- Evaluate and adopt Graviton / newer instance families and cost‑efficient architectures where applicable.
- Leverage and optimize FinOps tools such as CloudHealth, AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, GCP Billing, and similar platforms.
- Drive automation for cost reporting, anomaly detection, tagging compliance, and resource cleanup using native cloud services or scripts.
- Conduct FinOps maturity assessments and lead roadmap execution to advance organizational FinOps capabilities.
- Act as a trusted advisor to engineering leaders, delivery teams, and ZS Partners on cloud cost decisions.
- Manage relationships with cloud service providers and FinOps tool vendors, supporting negotiations for discounts, credits, and enterprise agreements.
- Prepare and present business cases and cost optimization proposals to senior leadership.
- Manage and mentor a team of 3–4 FinOps analysts/engineers, providing technical guidance and career development.
- Set clear goals, review performance, and build bench strength and operational resilience within the FinOps function.
- Lead training sessions and workshops to improve cloud cost awareness across project teams.
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Finance, Engineering, or related field.
- 6–7 years of overall experience, with 5+ years in Cloud Financial Management / FinOps roles.
- Proven experience managing multi‑cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) at enterprise scale.
- Demonstrated ownership of $5M+ annual cloud spend with measurable optimization outcomes.
- Strong expertise in cloud pricing models, discount programs, and cost governance frameworks.
- Hands‑on experience with FinOps platforms (CloudHealth, Flexera, Vantage, or similar) and native cloud cost tools.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Prior team leadership or mentoring experience is required.
