We are looking to hire FinOps Engineer to lead cloud cost visibility, forecasting, and optimization across a multi-cloud environment (AWS, Azure, OCI).
The role requires strong understanding of cloud commercial models, cost structures, and enterprise cloud spend management. The candidate should be able to translate cloud usage into financial insights and drive cost optimization at scale.
FinOps Engineer
You will own cloud cost visibility, forecasting, and optimisation across a multi-cloud estate. You understand the commercial mechanics of each cloud platform how pricing models work, how savings plans and committed use contracts are structured, and how to negotiate the best possible terms. You track annual cloud events (AWS re:Invent, Microsoft Ignite, Oracle CloudWorld) with a sharp eye for service releases, pricing changes, and new optimisation opportunities that can be immediately actioned.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Cost Visibility & Reporting
- Own the cloud cost reporting function across AWS, Azure, and OCI delivering regular spend dashboards, cost allocation reports, and anomaly alerts to engineering and finance stakeholders.
- Design and maintain tagging taxonomies and cost allocation strategies that give teams clear ownership of their cloud spend.
- Build and maintain chargeback and showback models that align cloud costs to business units, products, and environments.
- Produce accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual cloud spend reports with commentary on variances, trends, and drivers.
- Provide ad-hoc cost analysis to support architectural decisions, new product launches, and infrastructure migrations.
- Partner with Finance and Engineering leadership to build and maintain annual cloud budgets aligned to business growth plans and product roadmaps.
- Develop rolling 12-month cloud spend forecasts with scenario modelling for growth, new workloads, and planned migrations.
- Track actuals against budget on a monthly basis; produce clear variance analysis with root-cause commentary and corrective action plans.
- Present spend projections and savings opportunities to senior stakeholders, including CTO, CFO, and VP Engineering, in a clear and non-technical format where required.
- Maintain a live savings pipeline tracker quantifying identified opportunities, in-progress initiatives, and realised savings.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for cloud cost questions from Finance, Engineering, Product, and Executive stakeholders.
- Run monthly FinOps review sessions with business unit owners covering spend performance, top cost drivers, savings realised, and upcoming opportunities.
- Translate complex cloud billing and pricing concepts into clear business language for non-technical audiences.
- Maintain a FinOps knowledge base and training materials to improve cost awareness across the engineering organisation.
- Champion a cost-conscious engineering culture — embedding FinOps practices into architecture reviews, sprint planning, and release processes.
