Technical Principal Consultant | FinOps

Summary of the Role:

 

The migration of our Erding based applications to the public cloud on Azure is the first step of our journey to the Cloud. A new discipline named FinOps will need to be adopted across the company and a dedicated team has been created in Altéa.

FinOps stands for Cloud Financial Operations and is a set of practices that help optimize cloud spend and ensure the business gets the maximum value out of them. This new team’s mission is to run Altéa cloud workload optimally by finding the balance between the cloud benefits and costs according to the business needs.

The list of activities covers a large scope articulated around two main objectives and implies a transversal collaboration within Altéa BU and with external stakeholders (GTC, FIN, Curiosity program…):

 

In this role, you’ll find a chance to:

 

Implement the Cloud and FinOps new way of working in Altéa

  • Identify and document the new possibilities brought by the cloud, corresponding leverages and communicate accordingly;
  • Develop the data collection and other frameworks feeding the FinOps data lake or supporting the FinOps capabilities;
  • Support the Curiosity TOM pillar for the refinement of the FinOps operating model and its impact on the business unit;
  • Agree on and contribute to the deployment strategy across the units (PMs, Engineering as the primary targets) leading to the first measurable outcome (hosting unit cost definition, training needs…);
  • Contribute to the Nevio program by ensuring a total alignment on hosting unit cost figures;
  • Technology watch to understand what are the new offers for IaaS/PaaS and collaboration with the architecture board;
  • Communication with the stakeholders

 

Deliver first cost reductions on the cloud workload

  • Contribute to the overall cost structure analysis and reporting;
  • Investigate cost optimizations opportunities for the ALT workload deployed in the cloud;
  • Implement the non challenging findings, collaborate with the application owners to implement the most complex;
  • Assess needs, and support budget request to implement;
  • Communication with the stakeholders;

 

About Ideal candidate:

  • 5-7 years of experience in IT, good knowledge of cloud concepts and FinOps. FinOps certification is a plus.
  • 2-3 years of experience in coding, implementation of basic frameworks, working in cloud environments, using the cost monitoring portal (Azure, GCP or AWS), managing cloud resources, monitoring resources usage.
  • Working experience with containers, Kube, and/or Amadeus eco-system (platform, middleware) is a plus
