Job Title: Sr. Cloud FinOps Analyst

Contract Duration: 1 year

Location: 100% remote

Salary Range: $100-125K

The Cloud FinOps team plays a critical role in optimizing cloud spend for my client’s global, multi-cloud ecosystem. We develop products and provide services that allow our teammates to make data-driven technology decisions, creating maximum business value for the organization.

 

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Our ideal candidate will have an analyst’s mindset, familiarity with public cloud technologies, and the learning agility to quickly understand their complex cloud environment.

The candidate will learn from senior members of the team and grow into a role that engages, supports, and advises internal customers on their public cloud journey, helping them raise their cost optimization game.

The candidate will be a team-player and a self-starter with a passion for learning and growing. Attention to detail, good listening abilities, and strong communication & collaboration skills are desired qualifications.

 

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

You will provide a key advisory and liaison role, helping technology domains strike the best mix of cost, quality, and performance in their public cloud ecosystem. You will develop an intimate knowledge of our Global Technology domains allowing you to produce valuable data for forecasting, show back, charge back, and variance analysis. You will help internal customers improve their cloud practices such as tagging, metadata, and policy compliance. Your interpersonal skills will help you guide your internal customers through demand management and oversight controls. You will contribute to the development and iterative improvement of our data reporting and visualization products.

 

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will report to the Director of Cloud FinOps, partner with the Lead Cloud FinOps Analyst, and work closely with our talented team of DevOps engineers and FinOps analysts. You will engage with leaders, analysts, engineers, developers, and other key members of the Global Technology domains, as well as Finance and Accounting partners.

WHAT YOU BRING

In addition to the requirements described above, successful candidates will exhibit the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or IT related discipline or any combination of equivalent relevant education, training and experience
  • Working understanding of public cloud provider platforms and services (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Experience in data analysis, forecasting, and reporting – preference toward financial disciplines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with business and technical leaders, teams, and squads

The following qualifications are preferred, but not required:

  • FinOps certification
  • Public cloud provider certification(s)
  • Understanding of public cloud provider billing methods and concepts
  • Working knowledge of third-party or cloud-native cloud cost reporting products and tools (e.g. CloudHealth, Cloudability, Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Mgmt+Billing)
  • Knowledge of financial close activities and accounting principles (e.g. amortization)
  • Understanding of Agile principles and Sprint Planning, including planning/backlog tools (e.g. JIRA)
  • Familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Experience with Python or similar automation/scripting languages
