The Staff FinOps Practitioner with AWS Cloud Cost Management expertise will be responsible for leading the financial operations and optimization of the company’s cloud infrastructure. This role will work directly with software engineering, platform engineering and Finance teams as well as act as the point-of-contact for all public cloud – AWS billing management, cost management & optimization. This role engages daily with stakeholders to ensure effective cloud cost management and financial accountability. They will generate, monitor, report cloud operational metrics, SLA’s, make recommendations, and drive operational efficiencies across the cloud platform.
Location: This is a remote position but may be required to travel to California based office(s) as required for business needs occasionally, team building, and education as determined by management.
Responsibilities
- 5+ years of experience in cloud computing, cloud financial management, financial analysis or a related role
- Deep understanding of AWS cost management tools and cloud infrastructure
- Monitor and analyze Cloud financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities across Arlo’s AWS cloud platform and champion the operational optimization of cloud spend.
- Creating and presenting financial reports to leadership and maintaining respective dashboards
- Enhancing cost management processes through improvements and automation
- Work with Product Management and Engineering Team to understand cost impact of new products and features and provide guidance.
- Work with leadership and cross functional teams to improve and develop cloud cost strategies
- Stay current on new technology, trends, and market behaviour by self-study, company training, acquiring certifications, and partner training
- Work closely with AWS team to explore cost optimization solutions and recommend alternative solutions
- Collaborate with Cloud ops team to generate weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual KPI and metrics report for executive management reporting.
- Drive operational efficiencies to improve cost, performance.
- Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks associated with cloud cost management
- Training and mentoring team members on cost management
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years’ experience in technology related Finance role and/or cloud infrastructure solutions or knowledgeable in cloud infrastructure solutions, preferably on AWS
- Extensive knowledge of cloud architecture and services, including containerization (ECS/EKS), compute, storage, networking, databases, etc.
- Meets/exceeds technical depth and has aptitude as a cloud technology lead for cloud managed services and AWS, including respective marketplaces
- Prefer experience with cost management tools like AWS cost explorer, Cloudcheckr, Cloudhealth, Cloubability or similar
- Familiarity with observability and logging tools (e.g. CloudWatch, Splunk, Instana)
