Associate Director, Cloud Optimization

KPMG is currently seeking a Associate Director, Cloud Optimization to join our Audit Technology organization. This is a remote work opportunity.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive cost optimization efforts by collaborating with application, architecture, cloud operations, business operations, finance, and leadership teams across the organization; Develop and deliver business cases that pull together the costs, expected savings, and benefits of making changes to optimize and establish goals and metrics which create the basis for action
  • Promote all aspects of Cloud FinOps with an aim to evolve to an operating model that better aligns teams, ensuring more responsibility and accountability for our cloud spend; Evangelize unit economics, cost related trends and themes to develop and proactively share knowledge, acting as an advocate for the optimization for cloud-based investments and associated leading practice
  • Understand and communicate cloud based best practices for billing, forecasting, and budgeting; Analyze spend trends, identify opportunities for savings and be an influencer to drive teams to a more optimized state
  • Build and improve real-time cloud cost and consumption dashboards and forecasts for executive briefings, business operations, finance workflows and engineering transparency; Drive budgeting, variance reporting, and forecasting efforts; Work closely with the Business Operations and Finance teams on reporting and spend forecasts
  • Build relationships with internal stakeholders to understand the business requirements for Cloud FinOps Management and to manage expectations; Communicate, establish, and measure KPIs to track progress and success of optimizations
  • Configure, manage, and drive cloud cost optimization strategies, tools, financial reporting and analytics dashboards, and business intelligence toolsLead the team to automate manual data gathering, inputs, calculations, and general toil reduction for all reporting datasets and connectors; Be a role model for doing the right things and treating people the right way, act as a motivational figure that leaders look to for mentoring, coaching or advice

Qualifications:

  • Minimum eight years of experience in enterprise infrastructure management and operations including client engagement and customer support in end-to-end delivery of Cloud Solutions
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
  • Demonstrated public cloud knowledge and experience with Azure and other cloud providers (AWS, GCP, etc.); Understanding of native cloud provider cost management capabilities, pricing models, and experience with FinOps and Cloud optimization frameworks
  • Proficient cost management knowledge including but not limited to chargeback modeling, cost savings and avoidance tracking, trending and variance analysis and forecasting
  • Exposure to third-party cloud aggregator software (Cloudability, Flexera, CloudHealth) with direct experience in anomaly detection, capacity planning and rightsizing, tagging and storage lifecycle policies, and automation
  • Ability to direct, motivate and empower others to work towards the organization’s goals, ensuring efficient allocation of resources across multiple functions; Ability to make decisions of very high complexity, often autonomously

Colorado Salary Statement:

The salary range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in the state of Colorado if selected for the role.  Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data/ranges, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications (e.g. JD/technology), for example.

 

Colorado Salary Range: Low: $114400 – High: $208100
