As a FinOps Tooling / Optimization Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing and guiding the implementation of cloud optimization strategies, policies, and automation. You will be a key member of our FinOps team, helping to ensure efficient and cost-effective cloud usage.

 

As a FinOps Engineer at BAM, you will:

  • Implement and manage cloud optimization tools and platforms.
  • Develop and enforce cloud cost optimization policies and best practices.
  • Automate cloud cost management processes using scripting and cloud-native tools.
  • Monitor and analyze cloud usage to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to implement cost optimization strategies.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in FinOps.
  • Provide training and guidance to teams on FinOps principles and practices.
  • Provide technical guidance on cloud cost management and optimization.
  • Contribute to the development and standardization of cloud cost management tooling.

Core Tech Stack:

  • Cloud Cost Management Tools: Cloudability, CloudHealth, or similar
  • Public cloud: AWS and Azure
  • On-Premises Infrastructure: Nutanix, VMware, Cisco, HP
  • BI Tooling: Power BI, Tableau
  • Asset Management: Jira Asset & Jira Service Management

  • 4+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure and cost optimization.
  • Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud cost management tools.
  • Strong scripting skills (Python preferred) for automation.
  • Experience with cloud-native tools and services for cost management.
  • FinOps certification and/or training.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, SQL, and/or other analytics and reporting tools.

Bonus points for:

  • Public cloud certification (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience with IT financial management, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Contributions to FinOps communities or thought leadership in cloud cost management.
  • Experience with cloud billing and account management.
  • Knowledge of cloud automation and orchestration tools.
  • Experience with AI and/or Machine Learning tools and technologies.
