Sr Cloud FinOps Analyst

About the role:

You will leverage your experience and savvy in public cloud technology, FinOps, business, and cost management to lead best practices for cloud resource cost management, optimization, and cross-functional spend and control transparency. As a Cloud Finance and Operations (FinOps) Analyst, you will create, standardize, and implement cloud cost management and control practices while engaging cross-functional stakeholders to drive results. Through the partnership with infrastructure engineering teams, application development teams, product leadership, and finance: assignments include analyzing cloud costs, identification of opportunity, determining cause, and providing visibility into results. Collaboration is paramount to align efforts and develop a common understanding of operational costs with the intent to define strategies that sustainably and continually increase discount rates, decrease resource utilization, and select cost effective resources to deliver performant software products to Blackbaud’s customers.

You’ll be an integral part of our overall cloud efforts, being a member on many cross-functional teams that include Product Management, Architecture, Software Development, Service Delivery, and Finance. You will serve as a subject matter expert in the FinOps practice, cloud service costs, discount instrument management, resource utilization, and analytics space.  Proactive follow up with all stakeholders to provide current state information and situational awareness is required.

You will collect, monitor, and analyze data, assist with forecasting, demand planning, and make recommendations on cost optimization strategies such as reservations, savings plans, shutdown schedules, etc. Duties and tasks are varied and complex, requiring the ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member. This role requires comfort in preparing and presenting reports to various parts of the business from technical team member to senior leaders. Experience is required with using cost, utilization, and resource data to develop relevant, accurate and timely reporting, providing visualizations and informative perspectives across and up the organization.

What you will be doing:

• Collaborate with cloud infrastructure, software development, product management, and financial teams to understand resource utilization, spend, cost allocation, budget, and forecasting.
• Apply cost and resource utilization optimization strategies to drive business objectives.
• Build standards and practices to manage spend across all product lines. Implement standards to allocate costs. Prepare and present findings, recommendations, reports, spreadsheets, new cost management models, and new utilization methods.
• Create methodology to measure cost and utilization performance against established metrics.

  achelor’s degree or equivalent related work experience.

• A minimum of 5 year’s experience in a public cloud environment.
• A minimum of 5 years process management and business intelligence preferred.
• Experience in creating and maintaining reports, dashboards and data visualizations.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze large and complex data sets and to convert them into actionable insights that drive business decisions.
• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact/influence internal and external leadership.
• Experience in data extraction using SQL or other query languages is preferred.

• FinOps Practitioner certification preferred
• AWS Cloud Foundations or Azure AZ-900 Fundamentals.

• Power BI, Tableau, or other data visual toolset.

The starting base pay is $87,700.00 to $114,200.00. Blackbaud may pay more or less based on employee qualifications, market value, Company finances, and other operational considerations.
