Financial Operations Analyst

Job Summary

The Financial Operations (FinOps) Analyst will assist in streamlining processes such as procurement, reservations, financial approvals, and coordination between multiple stakeholders, to align teams to FinOps goals and policies. In this role, Azure, AWS, Cloudability, and other FinOps tools are used to drive business outcomes . Additionally, this role will leverage data to assist in driving cost-saving opportunities across multiple clouds and hosted applications. The FinOps Analyst provides support in creating and socializing reports, dashboards, and cost-saving automations by leveraging available tools and processes in accordance with the needs of evolving business.

Job Description

Essential Job Functions:

Financial – Utilize basic FinOps principals and cost-saving strategies. Assist in driving financial opportunities across multiple teams and stakeholders. Record and track financial opportunities, discussions, decisions, and impacts. Partner with team members and application stakeholders to plan, access, and visualize the budgeting aspect for each application environment. Manage expenses by leveraging real-time data on company spending from the cloud platform and application perspective.

Process and Policy – Analyze and provide feedback on FinOps policies and processes. Create and maintain documentation of deployments, systems, and procedures relating to joband team responsibilities. Produce documentation as requested for internal customers, audits and compliance purposes. Leverage FinOps tools to identify areas where enhanced procedures could save companies both time and money (e.g. Reservations and Rightsizing). Leverage both new technology and more traditional approaches.

Reporting and Analytics – Build dashboards, reports, data automations, and forecasts to specification. Build real-time financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting by leveraging data and tools.

Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements:

  • Based in Bangalore, India. Choice of remote, hybrid or in office.
  • Required to support intermittent on-call coverage which may be outside of normal business hours, including weekends and possibly holidays.
  • Work Hours: 11am to 8pm IST or 1pm to 10pm IST. Flexible to work in shifts as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or graduation or post-graduation
  • 1+ year of experience managing cost across multiple billing accounts within Azure or AWS, using native Cost Management tools, Apptio Suite, or other FinOps tools.
  • Must have worked in projects adopting Iterative/Agile methodologies and must be proficient with its FinOps practices.
  • Engineering experience in an area of specialization which is Azure Cloud, mainly focused to set up and deploy financial reporting and monitoring in Azure cloud and continuously monitor the cost.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: AZ-900, AZ-104, AWS Cloud Practitioner, AWS Associate Archtiect or FinOps Practitioner.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven stakeholder management skills
  • Indepth background in finance and cloud engineering concepts
  • Basic proficiency in SQL
  • Basic proficiency in technical writing and documentation
  • Basic proficiency in data analytics and reporting
  • Exposure to basic automation tools and workflows
  • Exposure to a scripting language
  • Exposure to  IaaS, PaaS, and  SaaS products offered by Azure and AWs
  • Exposure to basic accounting practices and cloud provider billing
  • Exposure to a Cost Management tool and an environement with multiple billing accounts
  • Apptitude for problem-solving
  • Strong background in cloud products and exposure to software development practices
  • Familiar with SQL, dashboards, GAAP reporting, and a FinOps Foundation member
  • Cloud computing and understanding of shared responsibility models
  • Comfortable working on a small team, be self-motivated, and exhibit strong problem-solving and oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Cloud Computing services as well as Cloud Networking, Databases, Software, Servers, and Microsoft product knowledge
  • Interest in learning other FinOps skills to improve the overall cost factor in the teams
  • Understanding features and tools in AWS and Azure for governance and compliance, for managing and deploying Cloud resources
  • Intermediate overview of cloud service types such as IaaS, PaaS & SaaS and associated monitoring tools in Azure/AWS for these services
  • Knowledge of core architectural components of AWS/Azure such as VMs, VMSS, Containers, Functions, App hosting, Vnet, APIM, API Gateways, APP Services, Private Network and Storage
  • Proven experience in reducing the consumption of underutilized resources and leading cloud cost-efficiency improvements
  • Familiarity with Data Warehousing workflows such as Snowflake or Tableau, and have the ability to query and analyze large data sets
