IT Financial Analyst | Jr. FinOps Analyst

BridgeView’s client is looking for a Financial Analyst with some IT experience that is willing to learn cloud and FinOps and run this program for them. This role would provide Cloud FinOps training.

What Will You Be Doing?

The Cloud Engineering team is looking for a passionate and highly motivated individual to be a Cloud FinOps Analyst. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert on our Cloud Operations FinOps Practice and a partner for the organization. You bring passion and dedication to your job and there’s no telling what you could accomplish! You will provide a key function in shaping the success of current and future products. As a team member, you will be responsible for actively overseeing cloud consumption charges, identifying primary cost drivers, and leading optimization activities to ensure that our infrastructure is operating efficiently. You will be using cloud cost optimization platforms as well as partnering with Engineering to gain visibility and better management of third-party cloud infrastructure usage and costs.

Essential Functions

Responsible for the forecasting and financial reporting of a subset of the IT organizations, capital expenditures, and private/public cloud financials

Work with IT Managers and Directors regarding project budget status, overall budget performance, and future forecasting.

Track the status of project budget/funding and work with Finance & Accounting to help track and resolve issues with the Azure budget forecast.

Develop and document Cloud FinOps processes and policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

Assist in pricing build-up and cost proposal development for projects.

Work together as a team with other IT members and our accounting groups to achieve better tracking and forecasting of cloud spend.

Analyzing current and past financial data and performance, and prepare reports and projections based on this analysis.

Assist in producing quarterly forecasts, variance analyses, financial models, and prepare ad hoc financial reporting as requested.

Identifying trends in cloud financial performance and providing recommendations for improvement

Prepare and contribute to executive presentations, including IT Cloud FinOps performance, risks, and opportunities.

Continual process improvements to help scale the business and automate data and reporting.

Able to research complex technical solutions, consisting of multiple technologies and cloud services.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Functions

Actively monitor cloud consumption charges and identify primary cost drivers.

Lead optimization activities to ensure the cloud environment is as cost efficiently as possible.

Leverage cloud cost optimization platforms to help track and better handle cloud spend.

Use an agile “FinOps” approach to managing cloud spend.

Assist coworkers with collecting and reviewing financial data from various Cloud Native sources. (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, PowerBI, or other Cloud native cost management tools).

Analyzes cloud requirements and provide technical knowledge on cloud computing techniques and technologies of low- moderate complexity. (e.g., AWS Savings Plans and Reserved Instances)

Research, evaluate, and deploy cloud computing optimization techniques. Example: Low Utilization of Cloud Resources

Extensive & timely customer service responses.

Conduct ad-hoc AWS & Azure cost analysis using a deep understanding of cost reports capabilities.

Participates in special projects as required.

Pursue cost credits with public cloud providers due to unexpected overages.

Produce budgetary quotes for public cloud platforms upon request using public cloud native tools.

Qualifications

4-year degree with emphasis in finance, accounting, business administration, computer science or related field of study. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education.

Minimum 2 years of experience in a Finance & Accounting role, preferably in an IT Finance focused role.

Preferred previous Cloud Financial Operations Experience.

Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel.

Azure Fundamentals or AWS Practitioner certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Products like MS Word, and PowerPoint.

Attention to Detail, Organized, Self-Starter, Deadline-Oriented, with good analytical skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Aptitude to learn technology solutions quickly.

Analytic/ queries understanding for cloud billing.

Proficient in cost management knowledge including trending and variance analysis and forecasting.

Experience with Cloud Native Committed Use or Reserved Instance Management

Experience with PowerBI and/or Anaplan is a plus.

Airline experience a plus.

Cloud optimization expertise in Microsoft Azure required and AWS is a plus.

Experience working on building a Cloud Fin Ops Practice Preferred.
