Cloud FinOps Specialist

Brinks is looking for a Cloud FinOps and Cost Management Specialist to drive the adoption of cloud financial operations (FinOps) best practices and capabilities within our organization. This role will focus on implementing cost management controls to ensure ongoing cost transparency and governance.

Role Summary:

As a Cloud FinOps and Cost Management Specialist, you will be pivotal in ensuring that our organization maximizes the value of its cloud investments. You will develop and maintain processes that provide clear visibility into cloud costs and drive initiatives that promote cost efficiency and optimization. By collaborating with various teams, you will articulate the business value of cloud adoption and ensure that cost management practices are well-understood and implemented across the organization.

Your role will involve deep financial analysis, vendor management, and the creation of advanced cost recovery models to handle non-standard allocations. You’ll monitor compliance and drive engagement through effective communication and training, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned with the organization’s cost management goals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Promote Cloud FinOps Best Practices: Evangelize the adoption of Cloud FinOps best practices throughout the organization.

2. Develop Cost Management Processes: Use Apptio Cloudability to create and maintain mechanisms and controls to provide continuous cost transparency to app owners.

3. Cost Management Culture: Foster a proactive culture of cost management, transparency, and optimization in public cloud spending.

4. Identify Optimization Opportunities: Discover cost-saving and optimization opportunities via the cloud ability tool and actively collaborate with the technology team to support execution.

5. Track Optimization Actions: Monitor and document cost optimization actions and their associated value.

6. Manage CSP Incentives: Manage entitlement from CSPs and incentives such as Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and credits.

7. Define Cost Recovery Models: Develop advanced cost recovery models for non-standard allocations like shared services, platforms, and SaaS.

8. Monitor Compliance: Ensure ongoing compliance with cost management protocols.

9. Cross-Functional Engagement: Promote cross-functional engagement through training and communication with business and application teams.

Qualifications:

· Experience in cost management and cloud; 5-6 years

Experience in a technology department with a focus on commercial and financial management.

· Knowledge of IT infrastructure and public cloud concepts.

· Familiarity with public cloud cost management tools and techniques (Apptio Cloudability and Apptio TBM)

· Strong financial analysis skills, including working with large datasets and creating data-driven executive materials.

· Experience delivering presentations to both business and technology stakeholders.

· Proactive mindset and ability to work independently in a large organization.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Expertise in IT cost management strategies, models, processes, and tools.

· Experience with business chargeback, cost recovery models, total cost of ownership (TCO), and capacity planning.

· Ability to articulate the economics of public cloud migration and investment benefits

· Proficiency with tools like Azure billing and cost management, AWS Cost Explorer, Cost and Usage Reports, Reserved Instances, and CSP discounts.

· Understanding of cloud billing processes and procedures.

· FinOps or TBM certifications.
