Within Technology, the Cloud Fleet is responsible for driving the adoption of public cloud services as rapidly as possible, maintaining a balance between risk, capability and cost through this journey. Repositioning our Applications and Infrastructure organizations to harness the power of the Public Cloud will enable the higher level of productivity and flexibility needed to improve our time to market, respond to business trends, lower our cost base, maintain a highly conservative risk posture, and ultimately outpace our top competitors in the market. This is a key role within the team, responsible for supporting the definition and introduction of FinOps practices across the organization in order to drive efficient and effective public cloud cost management. The FinOps capabilities are developed to ensure public cloud investments deliver the best possible business value, through robust cost transparency mechanisms, optimization and financial controls. You will support existing reporting processes, as well as become involved in providing new capabilities to both internal and external clients, working closely with stakeholders across the technology organization
You will:
-Drive adoption of Cloud FinOps capabilities and best practices within the organization
-Develop cost management processes, mechanisms and controls to provide ongoing cost transparency and governance
-Articulate the value of public cloud adoption use cases to business and technology teams
-Provide commercial insights / deal economics support for strategic vendor engagements
-Drive a culture of proactive cost management, transparency and optimization across public cloud spend
-Identify cost saving / optimization opportunities and liaise with technology team to provide execution support
-Track cost optimization actions and associated value
-Manage vendor commercial incentives (e.g. Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, credits, etc.)
-Define advanced cost recovery models for non-standard allocations (e.g. shared services & platforms, SaaS, etc.)
-Monitor ongoing cost management compliance
-Drive cross-functional engagement across business and technology teams through training and communications
You have:
-Experience working in a technology department, with focus on commercial / financial management
-Knowledge of IT infrastructure and public cloud concepts
-Experience with public cloud cost management mechanics and tools (native / 3rd party)
-Experience in financial analysis / working with large datasets and creation of data-driven executive materials
-Experience in delivering presentation content to business and technology stakeholders
-Proactive mindset and ability to work independently in a large organization
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
You might also have:
-Experience in effective IT cost management strategies, models, processes, tools
-Experience with business chargeback / cost recovery models / TCO / capacity planning
-Experience in articulating public cloud migration economics, including articulating benefits of cloud investments at business / technology executive level
-Experience with Cost Explorer, Cost and Usage Reports, Reserved Instances, vendor discounts and other AWS, Azure, GCP cost mechanics
-Understanding of cloud billing processes and procedures
-FinOps / TBM certifications”
