Sysco Cloud FinOps Analyst
Sysco Europe are currently recruiting a Cloud FinOps Analyst role to join the Enterprise Technology function.
This role is aimed at developing and further maturing Sysco Europe’s cloud and infrastructure adoption of the FinOps Framework. The primary focus of this role is managing and optimizing cloud financial operations, ensuring cost efficiency and transparency in cloud expenditures. In this role, a FinOps analyst will collaborate with Cloud Architects, Business, Engineering, and Finance teams to implement FinOps solutions. In this role, the FinOps Analyst will analyze and report on cloud costs, helping Sysco to optimize resource usage, forecast spending, and achieve financial targets for Sysco Europe Companies.
This role offers an opportunity to develop a solid foundation in cloud financial management while contributing to a dynamic SaaS environment for Sysco Europe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Public and Private Cost Analysis: Monitor and analyze cloud usage, focusing on cost trends, variances, and potential savings for our SaaS product.
- Collate, Analyze, and Prioritize: Cloud optimization recommendations and calculate potential savings and benefits using different native, third-party, and self-developed tools.
- Client-Facing Assets: Create high-quality, client-facing assets targeting cloud cost optimization and present them to key stakeholders.
- Expert Knowledge: Provide expert knowledge of cloud cost optimization strategies (e.g., rightsizing, power scheduling).
- Cost Optimization: Work with engineering teams to identify cost-saving opportunities in AWS services, such as Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and right-sizing resources.
- Governance Process: Ensure optimization recommendations go through the appropriate governance process and get actioned.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with Cloud Engineering and Cloud Platform teams to implement cost optimization recommendations and best practices.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in monthly and quarterly budget planning and forecasting cloud hosting expenses for public and private clouds.
- Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on cloud spend and cost optimization recommendations for the finance and operations teams.
- Financial Modeling: Support the finance team by building and maintaining models to project cloud costs and potential impacts of usage changes.
- Data Management: Collect, organize, and analyze data from various cloud billing tools and third-party financial software to maintain accurate financial records.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Sysco Europe companies, TBM team, finance, SRE, and engineering teams to understand infrastructure needs and optimize costs.
- Finance & Accounting Principles: Understand core finance and accounting principles, with a basic understanding of accounting processes (budgeting, accruals, etc.).
- FinOps Policies: Establish and enforce FinOps policies across global teams to ensure alignment with financial and operational goals.
- Liaison Role: Act as a liaison between engineering, operations, and finance teams to ensure AWS cost strategies align with business objectives for Sysco Europe and related M&A sites.

We are looking for someone who has a Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology Management, or any related discipline. You’ll have an understanding of core finance and accounting principles, with a basic understanding of accounting processes (budgeting, accruals, etc.) and public cloud pricing schemes. Having experience with native and third-party public cloud cost management and advisory tools (Sysco In-house Tools, AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Trusted Advisor, Azure Advisor, GCP Recommender, Turbonomics, Wiz, etc.) is essential to succeed in this role. High proficiency with MS Excel and PowerPoint. You’ll have the ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
