Job Description Allstate’s FinOps Team is seeking a skilled Cloud FinOps engineer with experience in financial operations and cost optimization across cloud and broader IT environments to join our company. This role combines engineering acumen with financial insight to influence architecture decisions, optimize resource utilization, and drive cost efficiency across cloud, on-prem, SaaS, and hybrid platforms. The ideal candidate will leverage FinOps principles to deliver measurable financial governance, transparency, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities Financial Governance & Optimization
- Deliver actionable intelligence on resource utilization and cost trends across public cloud (AWS, Azure), on-prem, and SaaS platforms.
- Identify and facilitate opportunities for cost savings through workload optimization, licensing strategies, and vendor negotiations.
- Oversee cloud billing and manage enterprise-wide discount programs, including Compute Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, and commitment plans.
Engineering & Architecture Influence
- Collaborate with engineering teams to design cost-efficient architectures for cloud, on-prem, and hybrid solutions.
- Integrate FinOps practices into CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) workflows to embed cost governance in engineering processes.
Broader FinOps Application
- Extend FinOps methodologies beyond cloud to include data centers, SaaS subscriptions, and enterprise software licensing.
- Develop frameworks for cost transparency and optimization across multiple technology spend categories.
Data Analysis & Insights
- Investigate usage patterns and anomalies to inform strategic and operational decisions.
- Create KPIs, dashboards, and reports that measure efficiency and financial performance across technology domains.
Leadership & Enablement
- Lead regular advisory sessions with engineering, finance, and business stakeholders to align technical decisions with financial objectives.
- Configure and manage cost optimization tools for cloud and beyond, ensuring scalability and automation.
Qualifications:
- 5 years or more of engineering background with experience in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and familiarity with on-prem and hybrid architectures. (or equivalent)
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (API integration, Terraform, Python) to embed cost controls in engineering workflows.
- Strong data analysis skills with tools such as Excel, BI platforms, and cost management solutions (Cloudability, CloudHealth, Finout, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills with experience influencing technical and financial stakeholders.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in FinOps disciplines applied to cloud and broader IT environments
- Knowledge of enterprise discount programs, commitment plans, and licensing optimization strategies.
- FinOps Certified Practitioner, FinOps Certified Engineer, and TBM certification highly desirable.

Compensation Compensation offered for this role is 98,100.00 – 167,850.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
