About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Cloud Governance, the Cloud FinOps Lead will be responsible for the continued development of Trimble’s already mature FinOps practice. This individual will serve as the “face” and as a thought leader for FinOps within Trimble. This includes key strategic activities such as working with divisional finance and engineering teams to determine value metrics and detailed cloud margin reporting, developing updated corporate FinOps targets and forecasting future cloud usage to all levels of the organization.

The successful candidate is a strong communicator that has demonstrated success in achieving cloud cost optimization at enterprise scale, implementing corporate programs and has a strong understanding of underlying technologies of the “big 3” public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP). In addition, this role requires thought leadership and mentoring of junior engineers and the ability to foster collaboration between engineering and finance teams.


What You Will Do

  • Program Management & Development
    • Lead continued development of Trimble’s already mature Corporate FinOps program
    • Manage onboarding of new internal groups to FinOps program
    • Work collaboratively with Divisional Finance and Engineering teams to develop value metrics and detailed cloud margin reporting
    • Contribute analysis to Product Portfolio Planning activities
    • Manage central planning and purchasing of reservations and licensing to support corporate savings programs
    • Develop and deliver timely FinOps reporting to all levels of the organization (from individual product teams to C-Suite)
    • Work with central Finance team to provide forecasted cloud usage and reporting against cloud vendor commitments
  • Technical Leadership
    • Discover and socialize new cloud cost optimization opportunities
    • Mentor Junior FinOps Engineers & Analysts in implementation of optimization efforts
    • Provide guidance to engineering teams on implementation of optimization recommendations
    • Act as a product owner for internal cost management tooling
    • Work with procurement and vendor management teams to optimize usage and contracting for key cloud vendors

What Skills & Experience You Should Bring

  • Post secondary degree in finance or engineering (some finance preferred in this case)
  • 5 – 7 years experience in public cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • 3 years of experience in cloud cost optimization and FinOps
  • Demonstrated success in cloud cost optimization / FinOps efforts
  • Demonstrated success in development and delivery of Corporate programs
  • FinOps Practitioner certification
  • Experience in leadership and mentoring


About Your Location

Given the key strategic nature of this role, we prefer candidates local to Denver, Colorado who are interested in working under a hybrid model (3 days in office) at our Westminster, CO corporate headquarters.
