Cloud FinOps Specialist

Savvee Inc. is seeking an experienced and execution-focused Cloud FinOps Specialist to support our federal client in Silver Spring, MD, in a hybrid work environment. This role is centered on hands-on cloud billing, cost management, and FinOps support activities within an established multi-cloud environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with cloud operations, finance, procurement, and program teams to ensure accurate cloud billing, effective cost controls, and ongoing financial governance across existing platforms. This position emphasizes practical execution, operational support, and disciplined cost management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Supporting day-to-day cloud billing and cost management activities across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud environments.

• Reviewing, validating, and reconciling cloud invoices to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with approved budgets.

• Monitoring cloud usage and spending to identify cost trends, anomalies, and optimization opportunities within existing platforms.

• Supporting established FinOps practices, including cost allocation, chargeback/showback, budgeting, and forecast support.

• Partnering with cloud operations and engineering teams to ensure cost awareness is embedded into operational decision-making.

• Assisting with executing cost optimization actions, such as rightsizing resources, identifying unused services, and applying approved pricing or consumption strategies.

• Preparing clear, actionable reports on cloud spending and cost performance for program leadership and stakeholders.

• Collaborating with finance, procurement, and acquisition teams to support funding alignment and acquisition processes.

• Supporting vendor billing inquiries and pricing discussions as needed.

• Ensuring cloud financial management activities align with federal IT financial management and governance requirements.

• Operating effectively within an existing cloud platform and tooling environment, following established processes and controls.

• Understanding the organizational policies and procedures for accuracy of solutions and deliverables to the client.

• Demonstrating a commitment to quality and customer support.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND TRAINING

• Bachelor’s degree

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

• Fifteen or more years of relevant experience.

• Demonstrated experience supporting cloud billing and cost management in a federal or regulated environment.

• Hands-on experience performing FinOps execution activities, including billing review, cost tracking, budgeting support, and financial reporting.

• Experience working within established cloud platforms, preferably AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.

• Proven ability to collaborate with cloud operations, finance, procurement, and program teams.

• Highly motivated self-starter with strong customer service orientation.

• Must have the ability to obtain the client’s Public Trust clearance.

• A proficiency in utilizing MS Office products

• Proven knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) concepts and hands-on experience applying AI solutions.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• A highly motivated self-starter

• Must be motivated and have excellent customer service skills

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field

• Experience supporting cost management in multi-cloud environments.

• Familiarity with cloud provider native cost management tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, GCP Billing).

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to derive actionable insights from complex datasets

• FinOps certification (highly desired)
