This is an intermediate level analyst position to provide support for compute, storage and data center services in a hosted cloud environment supporting the global network.  The FinOps analyst will support projects to migrate workloads from on premise IT infrastructure to cloud environments as identified by the business.  The FinOps analyst will support selection of resources and financial accountability for cloud services.  The analyst will provide support using available technology systems.  The analyst will resolve issues directly if possible, escalating as necessary for more complex issues.  The analyst will utilize the ERP, VIM, AWS Console, GCP Console, Azure Console and other systems to support cloud projects and financial accountability for IT Infrastructure.  The analyst will work as a member of a team and have general responsibility as the primary FinOps resource.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support cloud operations across the global network:
    • Guide resource decisions
    • Analyze resource needs for new workloads
    • Provide cost analysis as needed
    • Provide financial accountability for cloud operations
    • Work with cloud resource consumers to estimate cost of proposed cloud workloads
    • Provide optimization plans for workloads to improve cost
  • Support ITI operations:
    • respond to ServiceNow requests for FinOps services
    • support server, storage, and backup teams
    • maintain optimization plans for IT Cloud resources
    • analyze and code cloud invoices timely to ensure invoices are paid on time
    • create purchase requisitions as needed to support cloud services with appropriate charges to business segments
  • Support infrastructure projects:
    • submit and track CARs as needed
    • create internal orders as needed
    • submit asset capitalization forms as needed
    • assist in managing the infrastructure capital plan
    • submit purchase requisitions as needed
  • Support infrastructure financial accountability:
    • track cloud operations expenses and provide forecasts as needed
  • Work closely with other team members to meet team goals and improve processes
  • Recommend changes to policies, procedures, and standards to ensure conformance with IT and Company objectives.
  • Take personal responsibility for attending meeting commitments and ensuring expected results are achieved

  • Basic knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) including technical functionality and cost models
  • Cloud fundamental certification preferred – AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Ability to properly structure, model and visualize cloud platform data to support decision making
  • Ability to navigate, cleanse and integrate raw data to develop dynamic dashboards using data analytics tools such as Cloudability, PowerBI, Google Big Query, GSuite products, Azure, etc.
  • Ability to do deep dives to further dissect issues or identify opportunities
  • Has aptitude to learn and understand new concepts and technologies to become an expert in the field
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to work within a team or independently with a transformation mindset. Able to work within functionally diverse teams
  • Ability to operate successfully in a lean, agile, and fast-paced organization
  • 3 – 5 years of work experience in a public cloud environment at a global company
  • Possesses a current FinOps certification, or ability to attain within 6 months
  • Possesses an AWS Practitioner certification or similar or ability to attain within 12months
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure technologies
  • Ability to use tools to capture, track and analyze cloud infrastructure usage and costs
  • Ability to collaborate with engineers to design and build cloud resource tracking tools
  • Strong data analysis skills including processing, interpretation, visualization and storytelling
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills within own team, technical IT partners, and customers
  • Ability to translate technical data for non-technical audiences
