About the Opportunity

 

As a FinOps Specialist at Etrading Software, you will embody the role of a change catalyst, taking ownership of our cloud financial optimization projects. Your mission will be to leverage your deep skills and knowledge to instill a sense of shared purpose within our project teams. Operating seamlessly under pressure, you will thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments, embracing complexity and change. In this role, you will meticulously plan, establish, and manage projects, serving as the vital bridge between the business and technical aspects of our initiatives. Responsibilities:

Cloud Cost Monitoring and Analysis:

• Monitor daily AWS usage and cost trends to identify anomalies and potential areas for cost optimization.
• Analyze cost and usage reports, leveraging AWS Cost Explorer and other tools, to gain insights into cost drivers and patterns.

Cost Optimization Strategy:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, DevOps, and Product to understand application architectures and deployment patterns.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize AWS spending based on a deep understanding of our infrastructure, workloads, and business objectives.

Technical Advisory:

• Provide technical guidance to Engineering and DevOps teams on best practices for optimizing cloud resources while maintaining performance and reliability.
• Advise on the selection of appropriate AWS services, instance types, storage options, and more, to align with cost and performance requirements.

Cost Efficiency Initiatives:

• Identify opportunities to refactor or redesign systems for improved cost efficiency without compromising functionality.
• Research and recommend third-party tools or services that can assist in cost monitoring, analysis, and optimization.

Cost Tracking and Reporting:

• Establish and maintain cost tracking mechanisms, ensuring accurate allocation of cloud costs to different projects, teams, and departments.
• Generate regular cost reports and dashboards for management review, outlining cost optimization progress and recommendations.

 

Budget Management:

• Collaborate with Finance teams to set and manage AWS budgets for various projects and departments.
• Proactively communicate budget overages and work with stakeholders to adjust resource provisioning as needed.

 

Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in finance, Computer Science, or Information Systems or any related education
• Over 4 years of professional experience in Cloud Advisory & IT Financial Services or Operational roles related to Cloud Cost Governance within an IT Organization.
• Proficiency and practical familiarity with native cloud cost management tools and/or third-party cloud management or optimization platforms.
• Experience working within the FinOps domain within a large enterprise.
• Previous involvement in creating customized reports.
• Knowledge of cost management, encompassing aspects such as chargeback modeling, monitoring cost savings and avoidance, conducting trend and variance analysis, and forecasting.
• Practical understanding of native cloud provider cost management capabilities and pricing models.
• Familiarity with third-party cloud aggregator software, including hands-on experience in anomaly detection, capacity planning and rightsizing, tagging, storage lifecycle policies, and automation.
• Strong analytical skills for collecting, organizing, and presenting complex data to diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and scorecards based on both internal benchmarks and industry standards.
• Proven ability to drive change management initiatives and a track record of enhancing program success.
• Results-oriented mindset with clear goals.
• Analytical thinker with effective communication and collaboration skills.
• A passion for delivering presentations, conducting training sessions, and teaching, combined with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
• Possession of the FinOps Certified Cloud Practitioner certification is advantageous.
• AWS or Azure cloud practitioner certifications are a bonus
