Title: FinOps Cloud Engineer

Location: Atlanta, GA; Indianapolis, IN; Mason, OH; Norfolk, VA; Dallas, TX; Jacksonville, FL

Enable cloud cost management and governance across the enterprise by building and maintaining business intelligence dashboards, integrating cloud FinOps technology solutions via APIs, building data pipelines, partnering with engineering teams cost-optimized solutions, and databases for reporting and analysis purposes across multiple cloud vendors to enable and maximize cloud discounts, allocate cloud spending, forecasting, budgeting, and migration business case development.

This role reports to the Senior Director of Multi-Cloud FinOps within the Cloud Center of Excellence, which provides a cost-effective technology vehicle to decrease the overall total cost of ownership and increased innovation opportunities for engineering teams. You will work in a fast environment with technology with various internal teams to drive large-scale cloud adoption.

How you will make an impact:

  • Be a subject matter expert on cost and usage data across cloud providers.
  • Develop data pipelines, visualizations, metrics, and enterprise dashboards via automated solutions to centralize import information for consumption within FinOps and application/development teams.
  • Develop technical requirements and solutions from technology leaders, vendor technical account managers, and engineers to improve cost allocation and visibility.
  • Participate in automating, integrating, cleaning, and maturing the Multi-Cloud FinOps team’s processes and data.
  • Enable a cost conscience culture via data and insights.
  • Contribute and drive the Multi-cloud FinOps Roadmap.
  • Work with IT, Procurement, Finance, and Engineering executive stakeholders to develop requirements and success criteria aligned with the company objectives and goals.
  • Participate in product evaluations and some architectural design review sessions to ensure tagging and container labeling and other cost savings are adhered to.
  • Uphold’s enterprise policy guidelines and recommends new and improved guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires an BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 10 years in one or more of the following: information systems, computer networking, systems development and management required; significant experience with multiple technical and business disciplines required; broad-based experience to plan and design highly complex systems; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years of developing data & analytics products via the cloud.
  • Terraform experience
  • Looker and/or Tableau dashboarding experience
  • FinOps experience in public cloud cost management and optimization on AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and cloud management tools.
  • Knowledge in cloud provisioning with infrastructure as code.
  • Proven experience developing data pipelines, metrics, and enterprise dashboards for enterprise consumption.
  • Experience with cost and usage data and discount methods (e.g., Savings Plans, Reserved Instances).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly.
  • Ability to think strategically, execute surgically, and prioritize multiple tasks or agendas under pressure.
  • Proven experience developing data pipelines, metrics, and enterprise dashboards for enterprise consumption.
  • Experience with cost and usage data and discount methods (e.g., Savings Plans, Reserved Instances).
  • Cloud(AWS, Azure, GCP) and FinOps certifications preferred
  • Experience with cloud migrations with an understanding of financial dynamics
