FinOps Consultant

About Your Role

As a Principal FinOps Consultant within our Cloud & Infrastructure capability, you will lead and advise clients on establishing, scaling, and embedding cloud financial management and value optimisation practices. You will act as a senior advisor to technology, finance, and business leaders, ensuring cloud investment is transparent, governed, and aligned to business outcomes.

Operating at a principal level, you will define enterprise FinOps strategies, operating models, and optimisation roadmaps, working across cloud platforms, delivery teams, finance functions, and executive stakeholders. You will ensure FinOps is embedded as a sustainable capability, supporting financial accountability, engineering efficiency, and continuous optimisation across large-scale cloud estates.

You will play a key role in major cloud transformation programmes, influencing architecture and operating decisions through a cost, value, and business-outcome lens, while contributing to propositions, thought leadership, and the ongoing development of our Cloud Economics and FinOps offerings.

Key Responsibilities & Capabilities

  • Define and lead enterprise FinOps strategies across public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud)
  • Advise senior technology, finance, and business stakeholders on cloud cost governance and value optimisation
  • Design and implement FinOps operating models, including chargeback/showback, budgeting, forecasting, and cost allocation
  • Establish KPIs, dashboards, and reporting to provide transparency into cloud spend, efficiency, and business value
  • Lead optimisation initiatives including rightsizing, rate optimisation, commitment management, and workload efficiency
  • Embed cost-aware practices into architecture, platform, and engineering design decisions
  • Support large-scale cloud migrations and modernisation programmes from a financial and value perspective
  • Contribute to proposals, client engagements, and offerings within the Cloud & Infrastructure capability

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Strong experience across cloud, financial management, technology consulting, or related disciplines
  • Strong practical experience applying FinOps principles at enterprise scale
  • Hands-on experience with cloud cost management, budgeting, forecasting, and optimisation
  • Experience operating across multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage confidently with senior technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred / Desirable Experience

  • Experience of Commercial FinOps vendors/platforms
  • FinOps Foundation certifications (Practitioner or Professional)
  • Experience aligning cloud spend to business value and investment decision-making
  • Familiarity with FinOps tooling ecosystems and native cloud cost management services
  • Experience working within regulated or complex enterprise environments
  • Experience with Technology Business Management (TBM) frameworks
  • Remediation strategies, including the use of automation to prevent, detect, and correct cost inefficiencies and policy breaches

  • Fluent spoken and written English (additional languages advantageous depending on location)
