FinOps Engineer

Remote role but the candidate must go in person to meet the team when starting and also be able to fly in occasionally for meetings.

Contribute, influence, and provide subject matter expertise in the creation of the FinOps Roadmap Client

· Developing Cloud FinOps Practices from the ground up including:
. Contributing to IaC and Reference architecture with FinOps discipline and rationale
. Build Cloud spend reporting
. Develop cloud spend forecasting
· Provide reporting & readouts to executives around cloud spend and usage
. Work cross functionally to align cloud cost optimizations
· Partners with Product teams to achieve cost optimizations across initiatives
· Work with varying degrees of technical and financial skillsets, such as product engineers and non-technical product owners
· Bridge gaps in finance and technology working with business and IT leaders
· Working with varying groups from product teams to business leaders to influence strategy, tactics, and usage of cloud· Work on a distributed team using chat and collaboration software for primary communications

Experience We’d Prefer to See:

· Experience in Google Cloud Platform, including cloud native services and pricing model

· Familiarity with Pulumi IaC framework
· Hands on Financial/Accounting experience
· Familiarity with FinOps tooling such as Ternary and/or Cloudability

What We’ll Require for the Role:

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Technology, or closely related degree (Required)
· Experience in Cloud Cost optimization or similar FinOps role
· Experience in a major public cloud provider such as: AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform
· Strong Technical and Financial acumen
· Development experience in one or more of the following: Java, JavaScript (Typescript/NodeJS), Python
· Experience and understanding of serverless technologies including cloud functions and technologies such as (or similar to) Google App Engine, Cloud Run and GKE
· Experience with reporting & data visualization tooling
· Familiarity in developing software using Agile processes and the Scrum framework
