Business Analyst - FinOps

What you’ll do:

The Business Analyst – FinOps will analyze Geotab cloud service provider costs to support reporting, analysis and forecasting. This position uses SQL queries and other tools to uncover improvement opportunities and trends. The Business Analyst – FinOps reviews data from Google Big Data environment and other service providers for accuracy, contract compliance and cost reduction for improved service quality.

How you’ll make an impact

Review and manage cloud service provider billings for accuracy and compliance with contracts and usage.
Prepare reporting to facilitate showback/chargebacks of costs.
Implement cost dashboards to support forecasting, and alerting (performance, usage, compliance) through retrieval of data and modeling.
Maintain and enhance driver based cost models for budgeting and forecasting.
Collaborate with Server Operations, Development Operations and other internal teams as well as develop relationships with other external stakeholders.
Perform research, financial and technical analysis on cloud operation.
Provide analysis and recommendations to support and prioritize cloud investment decisions and/or optimization activities.
Assist with other Finance and Operations projects as assigned.
Support Geotab global strategic initiatives.

What you’ll bring to this role

Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree specialization in IT, Commerce, Computer Science or a related field.
3-5 years experience in technical analyst or Cloud FinOps role.
1-3 years in advanced SQL knowledge, including query building and query optimization.
Experience working within a technical or engineering organization/knowledge of the technology and SaaS industry.
Familiarity with Python/iPython.
Experience with dashboarding tools such as Power BI, Apache SuperSet, etc.
Advanced skills with Excel or Google Sheets.
Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient analytical skills with the ability to problem solve to well-judged decisions.
Must stay relevant to technology and should have the flexibility to adapt to the growing technology and market demands.
High accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
Able to work well under pressure and respond to fast changing priorities and deadlines.
Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
