FinOps Engineer

About The Role

At the Engineering Platform, Gojek we are looking for passionate engineers responsible for bringing DevOps knowledge and software engineering skill set into the complex, dynamic, and exciting cloud finance area. The selected candidate will be an expert in all aspects of FinOps practices starting from providing visibility to teams on what they are spending on and why; identifying, measuring and executing efficient cloud optimization; defining and executing architectures and processes which enable the goals of technology, finance, and business to be achieved. You will also be developing services, tools and platforms that enable FinOps practices. This is a highly rewarding role where you will be able to see an immediate impact to your contributions

What You Will Do

• Becoming an expert for cloud cost management across many levels within the organization from executive leadership to individual and teams in global environments
• Delivering services, tools, and automation needed enable cloud spend visibility and optimization
• Providing detailed service and team level spend visibility to foster better business decision and cost accountability
• Enabling cost chargeback, showback, budgeting, and forecasting capabilities for gojek FinOps platform
• Operationalizing cloud provider discount commitments (such as committed usage discount) and usage practices (such as machine type usage) with measured processes and toolings
• Crafting a framework for enabling engineering and product team to adopt FinOps practices
• Pairing with team members on functional and nonfunctional requirements and spread design philosophy and goals across the team
• Collaborating with finance team to define and implement solutions

What You Will Need

• Prior experience with cloud provider (GCP is preferred)
• Experience in operating and being the admin of cloud (GCP is preferred) in production, ability to drive cost optimization discussions with development teams
• Basic understanding of Bigquery
• Experience in infrastructure management, automation and scripting
• Have worked on production distributed systems and have an understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful services
• Atleast 3-5 years of relevant experience. Hands on in any object oriented or functional programming language i.e. Java, Golang, Clojure, Python, Ruby etc building applications from scratch
• FinOps certification (preferred)
• Experience in public cloud cost management projects in a larger organization (preferred)
