Cloud Cost Optimization Consultant

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience coding in one or more languages: Java, C++, Python, Go, SQL, JavaScript.
  • Experience designing, building, and deploying architectures based on cloud FinOps principles.
  • Experience managing customer-facing projects, troubleshooting technical issues, working with Engineering, Sales, Services, and customers.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certified in one or more cloud certifications (e.g., Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect and FinOps Certified Practitioner).
  • Experience working with multi-tier modern web technologies (e.g., BigQuery, GKE, DataProc, Pub/Sub, Cloud Run, Cloud Function), information retrieval, REST APIs to extract and/or post data.
  • Experience working with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Google Cloud Deployment Manager), including designing technical architectures, and provisioning deployments and automation workflows.
  • Experience in technical consulting with Fortune 100 enterprise companies.
  • Experience in architecting cloud solutions and developing software, or internet scale production-grade solutions in virtualized environments.

In this role, you will work with Google’s most strategic business customers and provide business consulting, transformation, and cloud financial operations expertise, while engaging with customers to accelerate their transition to Google Cloud. The role sits within the Cloud Professional Services Organization (PSO), where we are focused specifically on helping customers transform and evolve their business through the use of Google’s global network, web-scale data centers and software infrastructure. You will be a part of the Digital Transformation Consulting team and specialize in scoping, shaping and delivering large scale, Cloud Financial Operations (Cloud FinOps) transformations.

You will conduct cloud cost optimization assessments, designing scalable cost-aware architectures, implementing efficient automated workflows using Google Cloud native services and open source tooling. You will develop cost optimization solutions and go-to-market initiatives through collaboration with Sales and Customer Success teams to generate pipeline, wins, and cloud consumption by aligning on key business priorities and goals through a customer success plan. You will work with Google’s strategic Cloud customers to guide them on how to ingest, store, analyze and explore/visualize billing and usage data on Google Cloud platform along with supporting its implementations. You will have experience planning and leading the delivery of professional services engagements including cloud financial operations process design and implementation, and cloud-enabled business value transformation initiatives. You will travel up to 30% of the time as needed.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $102,000-$151,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Deliver Cloud Financial Operations (FinOps) and Cost Optimization projects, and engage with customers to strategize, design and implement cost-aware architecture solutions to manage and optimize cloud consumption, including implementing cloud cost control policies at scale.
  • Create and deliver best practices recommendations, tutorials, blog articles, sample code, and technical presentations adapting to different levels of business and technical stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with customers, including Finance, IT Ops, Application and Engineering teams to gather requirements and deliver cloud optimized and automated solutions using Infrastructure-as-Code.
  • Assist leadership with development of the PSO Cloud FinOps practice, create new capabilities, accelerators, and thought leadership as a subject matter specialist for Cost Optimization.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful delivery of Go-To-Market offerings for Cloud FinOps and provide feedback from the field for product features roadmap.
