Google Cloud Data Architect

Duration 6-12 months+

Location: 100% Remote is fine,someone as close to CT/New York as possible that would be nice.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and a strong background in designing, implementing, and managing data architectures for large-scale healthcare projects. This role requires a deep understanding of healthcare data standards, security, and compliance regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Architecture Design: Design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient data architectures on GCP to support healthcare applications and data analytics.

Healthcare Data Management: Ensure the proper handling, storage, and integration of healthcare data, adhering to industry standards such as HIPAA, HL7, HL7v2, FHIR, and other relevant regulations.

Data Integration: Develop and manage data integration processes, including ETL/ELT pipelines, to integrate data from various sources (e.g., EHRs, clinical systems, IoT devices) into a unified data platform.

Cloud Infrastructure Management: Oversee the deployment and management of GCP services, including BigQuery, Health Data Engine, DataFlow, Composer, Cloud Storage, Cloud Pub/Sub, Dataflow, and AI/ML services.

Data Governance: Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity, and security across the organization.  Translating governance requirements in to metadata and data catalog design

Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, analysts, and architects, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including healthcare professionals, product managers, and business analysts, to understand data requirements and deliver effective data solutions.

Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize the performance of data systems, ensuring high availability, reliability, and scalability.

BI Services: Design and development of semantic layers to be utilized by BI tools such as Looker and Tableau

Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of  7-10 years of experience in data architecture and data management.

Proven experience with GCP services and tools.

Strong understanding of healthcare data standards and regulations.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in GCP services, including BigQuery, Health Data Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud Pub/Sub, Dataflow, and AI/ML services.

Experience with data modeling, database design, and data warehousing.

Strong programming skills in SQL, Python, or other relevant languages.

Knowledge of ETL/ELT processes and tools.

Familiarity with data governance and security best practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with healthcare-specific data platforms and tools such as EPIC

Certification in GCP or other cloud platforms.

Knowledge of machine learning and AI applications in healthcare.
