Cloud FinOps Analyst

We are seeking a highly motivated Cloud FinOps Analyst to join our team in supporting a Federal client in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of technology, and a background in financial principles and business analytics. As a Cloud FinOps Analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing system improvement opportunities, identifying trends and suggesting updates, evaluating data patterns, tracking cloud utilization, and monitoring cloud consumption to optimize resource efficiency and mitigate waste. This role requires advanced Excel functions skills, scripting knowledge, experience with data reporting/visualization tools, and an active Secret clearance.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze system improvement opportunities, identifies problem trends, and suggest updates

  • Evaluate and investigate data patterns and anomalies to derive insightful knowledge that can inform strategic and operational decisions.

  • Track utilization of cloud reservation/savings plans and work with teams to re-purpose freed-up capacity.

  • Analyze cloud services and deployed resources volume to inform contractual negotiations relating to service discounts and commitment levels.

  • Monitor cloud consumption to mitigate waste and determine areas of resource efficiency.

Role Requirements:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an aptitude for understanding technology.

  • Advanced Excel functions skills and scripting knowledge.

  • Knowledge of basic financial principles and business analytics.

  • Able to assimilate data from a variety of sources, analyze, and recommend appropriate courses of action.

  • Experience with data reporting/visualization tools

  • Active Secret clearance required

  • 3-5 years of FinOps experience preferred
