Working closely with Finance, and business stakeholders, the primary purpose of this high-profile role is to ensure that the Informa divisions are using cloud resources effectively, eliminating unnecessary spend, investing in the right services. and obtaining clear visibility on usage. This will involve the management of tooling to assist with cost alignment, and identification of saving opportunities, as well as creating a FinOps guild to provide a vehicle for delivering best practice and consistency.

In addition to this the right candidate for this role will work closely with Informa divisions to develop strong processes to drive more effective management of cloud resources and assist in delivering an agile service management framework. You will identify process gaps, waste, lifecycle issues, and introduce automation and integrations between tooling to optimise the performance of Informa operations, and service management. A key aspect of the role is assisting with the design and delivery of a technology data model that provides structured and meaningful information to stakeholders to allow them to plan more effectively and optimise their services and applications.

FinOps – Practitioner.

This is a brand-new role within the business and Informa is seeking a FinOps and Optimisation lead. This is a leadership role within a fantastic organisation with a great culture and will serve as the catalyst for delivering a consistent approach to effectively managing our resources within the cloud, delivering optimised processes and automation as well as gaining deep insights into our investment within AWS, and Azure environments.

Key Deliverables.

  • Building, and maturing a FinOps practice that can optimise investment and identify opportunities for managing costs positively.
  • Working with various engineering and Finance teams to deliver positive influence in relation to operational and project Capex.
  • Agreeing, forecasting, and tracking cloud expenditure plans in collaboration with each of the divisions, operating at a platform and product level where necessary – This will include proposing and managing reservations, and savings plans.
  • Using your previous experience to ensure that cost control has an influence over the reference-based architectures used within Informa, and that tools, techniques, and best practices are applied during project execution to help to manage costs within forecasts.
  • Building a network of like-minded individuals – FinOps champions across the group divisions to ensure that identified opportunities are executed, and that investment decisions are well managed in line with forecasted goals. You will be adept and gaining stakeholder buy in to cost management principles and influencing key investment decisions in a positive way.
  • Configuring tooling and workflows to ensure that overspend is flagged, opportunities for savings are tracked and executed, and providing persona-based reporting to show progress at a divisional and product level.
  • Providing senior stakeholders with the opportunity to understand where they can make changes to maximise their return on investment within the cloud.
  • Identifying gaps in process, finding opportunities to optimise the way we work in Technology at Informa to ensure we modernise, measure, and improve.
  • Helping to build an ecosystem of tools and integrations that deliver an efficient service management framework for the Informa technical teams.
  • Developing, documenting, and sharing best practices, and techniques that can be used to optimise operational efficiencies, being the advocate for adoption of tooling and processes.

An ideal candidate will have 5+ years’ experience in Cloud Operations or DevOps and will have a strong understanding of financial management in the cloud at an Enterprise scale. In addition to this we are looking for someone who has experience of building and optimising operational processes to drive the performance of Informa’s DevOps teams by introducing the right levels of automation, tooling, and integrations. Generation of a reporting framework is a key part of this role. The position requires strong leadership and team building skills and must be able to collaborate effectively with a group of high performing architects, engineers & managers that work within Informa’s broader operating divisions. You should be able to evidence where you have been successful in a similar role and be willing to provide examples at interview.
