Cloud Cost Analyst (or Cloud FinOps Associate)

Location: United States

We are open to receiving applicants at the Cloud Cost Analyst (P1) or Cloud FinOps Associate (P2) level. The job responsibilities remain the same between both positions but your skills and experience, which will be discussed during a preliminary call with a Logicworks TA team member, will determine your level upon hire.

Position Overview:

Reporting into the VP of FinOps, the Cloud Cost Analyst (or Cloud FinOps Associate) will be responsible for conducting high-level analysis of cloud cost data for both client and internal departments. In this role you will use insights from your analysis to develop and execute cost savings strategies. You will also be asked to consult with clients to build custom cost reports and alerts as well as work with the internal billing team to help onboard new clients and assist in reconciling billing data.  Candidates will also be responsible for managing 3rd party Cloud vendor contracts.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze cloud data to identify cost optimization opportunities and create specific recommendations
  • Review cost optimization recommendations with clients and business unit stakeholders and support rightsizing of usage and spend.
  • Drive cost savings through identifying and purchasing reserved instances or savings plans and exchanging reserved instances on a regular basis.
  • Create reports and alerts to track spending trends and the impact of cost optimizations
  • Consult with clients as a cost optimization subject matter expert for AWS and Azure
  • Work with the Accounting dept to ensure cloud billing data is processed and billed correctly
  • Manage 3rd party Cloud vendor contracts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Strong background in finance, preferably in technology services, with considerable analytical skills, and the ability to take raw data, analyze it and present it to senior management to aid in the decision-making process across key areas of business.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with finance and business partners at varying levels of the organization, including senior management.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Experience with SaaS technologies, costing models and cloud costing products (Power BI, Tableau, CloudHealth, Cloudcheckr, etc.)
  • Experience with at least 1 cloud billing system (AWS or Azure) is a plus

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in cloud cost management or relevant work experience
