Kyriba is the global leader in cloud-based finance solutions, empowering CFOs and their teams to transform how they activate liquidity as a dynamic, real-time vehicle for growth and value creation. Our award-winning SaaS platform delivers comprehensive treasury, risk management, payments, and supply chain finance capabilities that enable companies to optimize their working capital and enhance financial performance.
Job Description About the Role Reporting to the VP Cloud Operations & FinOps, Kyriba is seeking a FinOps Manager to build and lead our cloud financial management practice from the ground up. As the first dedicated hire in this function, you will have the mandate to define the strategy, select the tooling, and build the culture of cost accountability across our engineering organization.
You will act as the bridge between Finance, Engineering, and Procurement, translating complex AWS data into actionable business value. You won’t just “report” on costs; you will drive architectural efficiency and empower our engineers to make cost-aware decisions. This is a high-impact, founding role for someone who wants to write the playbook rather than just follow it.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build the Foundation: Design and implement a global tagging strategy, cost allocation hierarchy, and governance framework to ensure 100% of cloud spend is accountable.
- Drive Optimization Strategy: Proactively identify opportunities for savings (Rightsizing, Spot, Graviton adoption, Storage Lifecycle) and collaborate with Engineering leadership to prioritize these into the technical roadmap.
- Financial Stewardship: Manage the full lifecycle of commitment-based discounts (Savings Plans, RIs) and enterprise agreements to maximize coverage and minimize effective rates.
- Data & Visibility: Own the “Source of Truth” for cloud cost. Build automated dashboards that provide near real-time feedback loops to engineering teams.
- Culture & Enablement: Shift the culture left. Create runbooks, host “FinOps Roadshows,” and gamify cost optimization to make efficiency a core part of the engineering DNA.
- Anomaly Detection: Operationalize automated alerts for cost spikes; lead “blameless post-mortems” on billing anomalies to prevent recurrence.
Qualifications Preferred Skills and Experience:
- 4+ years in Cloud Financial Management (FinOps), Cloud Operations, or Technical Program Management with a heavy focus on AWS.
- Deep AWS Fluency: You understand the difference between an unattached volume and a snapshot, how Spot instances work, and can explain data transfer costs to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Excel/Google Sheets. You are comfortable querying large datasets (AWS CUR) to find the “needle in the haystack.”
- Proven ability to influence engineering teams without direct authority. You can explain why a change matters in language engineers respect.
- Demonstrated experience leading projects, mentoring team members, or managing direct reports. You know how to build a team culture from scratch.
Nice to have:
- DevOps Literacy: Ability to read and understand Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) to validate tagging strategies and architectural changes (even if you don’t write it from scratch).
- Familiarity with Kubernetes (EKS) cost allocation strategies (e.g., Kubecost, namespace labeling).
- Experience implementing or managing third-party FinOps tooling (e.g., CloudHealth, Vantage, ProsperOps).
- FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP) or AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.
