FinOps Engineer (Infrastructure)

We are establishing and improving new technologies and approaches that require a lot of foundations for our developers, like microservices platform from the infra and app sides, observability, security, quality tools, infrastructure capabilities for databases, etc.

As an AWS FinOps Engineer in the Operational Excellence group you will help to achieve our mission which is to craft the culture of the Miro engineering team towards being more operationally and financially aware, making sensible decisions to protect the availability of our product without excessive cost.

Our FinOps engineers hold accountability for this within operational excellence.

What We Do

Developing cost optimization strategies – This involves analyzing and optimizing cloud usage, identifying areas for cost savings, and implementing cost reduction measures.

Managing cloud budgets allocated for cloud services and ensuring that spending stays within the set limits.

Implementing cost allocation – developing a system for allocating cloud costs to different teams or business units.

Monitoring cloud usage and spending – lead all aspects of usage patterns and spending trends to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams – An AWS FinOps Engineer will work closely with partners from finance, engineering, and operations teams to ensure alignment on cloud spending priorities and goals.

To excel in this role, one should have a deep understanding of AWS cloud services, cost management standard methodologies, and excellent communication and collaboration skills.

What You’ll Do

  • Establish tooling and process to run FinOps program and build Cost awareness
  • Create cost saving backlog and implement it with developers
  • Implement cost monitoring and awareness tools and practices across the organization
  • Work directly with engineering teams to provide data and guidance
  • Technical stack: AWS Cost and Usage reports, CUDOS, QuickSight, Athena, Looker

What You’ll Need

  • 3 years of proven experience with AWS
  • 2+ years experience with BI
  • Experience working in a highly diverse, multicultural, and distributed organization
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
