Senior Cloud Finance Manager

The role:

You will play a critical role within Morningstar on everything Cloud Finance which includes reporting, optimization, and leadership readouts. Not only will you get to contribute to Morningstar’s cloud success, but you will also have the opportunity to learn more about cloud, governance, financial responsibility, etc.

Job responsibilities:

• Develop a comprehensive program to optimize value of cloud spend
• Track and manage spend across multiple clouds
• Foster a culture of cost accountability among product teams
• Work closely with product technology teams across Morningstar to establish framework to optimize usage and spend across AWS, GCP & Azure
• Partner with cloud services to establish policies, build automations, and implement controls
• Establish budgeting and forecasting processes including show back/chargeback mechanisms
• Develops financial projections to support planning and investment decisions
• Provides advice and financial analyses to leadership for investment decisions, pricing changes, and the development of new products and offers
• Leads data analysis and assist in the creation of quantitative financial models and dashboards to track and forecast spend
• Develops and leads financial planning activities, including budgeting, short- and long-term forecasting, and revenue and expense driver analysis
• Collaborates with business partners & FAs (e.g., marketing, and operations) to develop robust financial forecasts and drive insightful analysis
• Continually improves and streamlines standard work processes
• Performs detailed competitive analyses to drive strategic insights and actions
• Support and assist in the development of the cloud FinOps plan and roadmap
• Provide support for the execution and iteration of cloud spend governance process
• Partner with Business, Cloud and Finance leaders to define, implement, and drive best practices in FinOps
• Provide stakeholders with data-driven cost optimization opportunities based on business priorities
• Provide weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports of cloud consumption metrics with recommendations to drive savings and efficiencies
• Assist with the creation and maintenance of internal documentation on FinOps, cost optimization and onboarding processes

Qualifications:

• Cloud service provider working knowledge (billing)
• Cloud analytics and spending capabilities/tools
• Cloud FinOps modeling and best practices

Nice to have:

• Prior experience leading Cloud Finance for a large organization, with multi-million spend per year.
