Position Specific Description

 

The Cloud and Infrastructure Manager creates value in our organization by ensuring our public and private clouds are cost-optimized, reliable, and secure.  This position is responsible for strategic planning and program management for infrastructure lifecycle, capacity, cloud costs, and supplier management.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains 5+ year infrastructure lifecycle and capacity plan
  • Delivers executive reports monthly on state of infrastructure lifecycle, projects, and risks
  • Understands business application relationship with infrastructure systems and regularly informs IT and business leads on health and/or risks for their applications
  • Develops business cases and oversees projects to address lifecycle and capacity needs
  • Develops and maintains 5+ year cloud cost forecast
  • Leads FinOps practice across internal cloud consumers, including cost optimization and cost planning
  • Delivers executive reports monthly on cloud cost compared to forecast, discount program status, cost optimization performance, and other key metrics
  • Ensures all cloud costs are properly charged to internal teams and applications
  • Assist internal customers with cloud cost forecasting for new projects
  • Review architecture for new projects and advise internal customers on best practice for cost optimization
  • Negotiates discounts with cloud service providers and hardware / software suppliers
  • Develops strategies for cloud and infrastructure cost optimization
  • Develops and manages capital and operating budget for cloud and infrastructure

 

Essential experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science related field or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years designing, engineering, or leading IT infrastructure services in a medium to large company
  • 5+ years planning strategic projects, budgets, financial forecasting, and data analysis
  • 2+ years of experience with strategic supplier contract management

  • Oversees development of processes and tools to automate code releases from development to operations (DevOps)
  • Attracts, develops and retains a high-performing and diverse team
  • Establishes and drives technology roadmaps that align with current and future business needs
  • Manages third party technical and outsourcing relationships to deliver project and operational support objectives
  • Ensures technology processes are conducted in line with applicable standards and company policies
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 8+ years
  • Supervisor/Management Experience: 2+ years
