Cloud FinOps Engineer

As a Cloud FinOps Engineer, you will be instrumental in managing and optimizing the financial aspects of our customers cloud infrastructure. You will combine your expertise in cloud technology with a deep understanding of financial management to ensure cost efficiency, transparency, and strategic value. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement cost optimization strategies and provide insights into cloud investments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the expert in cloud financial operations, overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for cloud-based services.
• Collect, monitor, and analyze cloud usage and cost data. Assist with forecasting and demand planning, and recommend strategies for cost optimization, including reservations, savings plans, rightsizing, and addressing underutilized or overutilized resources.
• Transparency and Reporting: Create detailed cloud usage and cost reports, providing transparency into cloud spending. Partner with stakeholders to communicate the ROI and strategic value of cloud investments through effective analysis, reporting, and presentations.
• Bridge finance and technology by working closely with infrastructure engineering, application development, product leadership, and finance teams. Analyze cloud costs, billing data, and provide visibility into financial results.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with cloud service providers. Assist in negotiating contracts and agreements to ensure optimal terms and conditions.
• Industry Trends: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in cloud technology and financial management to continuously improve cost management practices.
• Ensure that cloud financial operations adhere to relevant financial regulations and standards.

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience in cloud environments and SaaS, with a strong background in Business Financial Management, particularly in Cloud Computing.
• In-depth knowledge of cloud services architecture and cost mechanics (compute, containers, databases, serverless, storage, licensing, amortizations, etc.), with hands-on experience using AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging abilities. Proven experience in analyzing cloud costs, billing data, and cost allocations.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with global cross-functional teams.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strategic thinking and a focus on delivering measurable results.
• A strategic thinker with a customer-focused approach to financial management.
