Sr. Director, Cloud Cost Reduction

As a Senior Director, you will build and manage a team of cloud cost management and optimization specialists. You will be responsible for creating cost visibility and accountability across Oracle, drive architecture improvements to the Oracle Cloud platform and report on progress to VP+ leaders. Your role will be critical in setting up strategies and implementing procedures to reduce and optimize Oracle’s cloud expenditure.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field, with a Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the IT sector with a focus on cloud services, IaaS, and cost management.
  • Proven experience leading teams to reduce and control cloud spending.
  • Strong understanding and experience implementing FinOps strategies.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities with a proven record of managing large, cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud services, pricing models, and innovative cost reduction methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable strategies.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead the execution of comprehensive cost management strategies for Oracle’s cloud infrastructure, identifying key cost drivers, and developing plans for optimization.
  • Manage and lead high-performing teams dedicated to cloud cost management, fostering an environment that encourages collaboration, innovation, and high performance.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to provide regular updates on Oracle’s cloud cost status, engaging with senior management to drive strategic cost reduction initiatives.
  • Work closely with the finance department and technology teams to implement FinOps methodologies, enabling better understanding and control of cloud costs.
  • Implement robust monitoring systems to track cloud spending, identify inefficiencies, and provide actionable insights for cost optimization.
  • Ensure alignment with business needs and compliance with financial regulations and company policies related to cloud expenses.

Hiring Range: from $161,600 to $338,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
