Manager Cloud FinOps

Job Description Summary:

This role combines strategic and tactical responsibilities of leading multi-cloud financial management, cloud cost optimization, technical efficiency efforts, end-to-end automation, and adoption & maturation of Cloud Optimization and FinOps practices. Additionally, this is a resource manager role with direct responsibility for CFM org management, and collaborative leadership of CFM function that spans across multiple organizations.

Job Description:

This role combines strategic and tactical responsibilities of leading multi-cloud financial management, cloud cost optimization, technical efficiency efforts, end-to-end automation, and adoption & maturation of Cloud Optimization and FinOps practices. Additionally, this is a resource manager role with direct responsibility for CFM org management, and collaborative leadership of CFM function that spans across multiple organizations.

  • Lead all CFM workstreams and teams ( On-Prem and Public Cloud ), including Financial Analysis Overlay and Financial Optimization execution across all 3 CSPs ( GCP, AWS, Azure )
  • Own analysis of data from Cloudability and /or other PayPal data sources ( Cloud ), data from internally developed DBs/Tools (On Prem) – with actionable recommendations as outcomes
  • Drive standing / planned optimization & efficiency processes, own engagement across PayPal organization, including engagement with OCIO and BITS Finance
  • Monitor and validate attainment of standing annual Consumption Optimization / Efficiency targets and well as Budget targets
  • Responsible for financial engineering – apply knowledge of GCP/AWS/Azure financial instruments to action on applicable workloads and drive savings in cloud consumption
  • Engage with OCIO team on standing Forecast / Budget and longer term planning and Business Case analysis efforts
  • Engage with CSP account teams to gain support for financial engineering effort and alignment on financial management / consumption target attainment
  • Drive New Efficiency opportunity identification, ad-hoc efficiency / tech optimization opportunity analysis, development of efficiency / optimization action recommendations and applicable financial
  • engineering tasks ( CUDS, RIs, Savings Plans,etc..) and financial “what if” modeling for optimization scenarios
  • Own CFM KPI analysis, share status updates, and facilitate cadence of actions to address KPI shortfalls
  • Drive adoption of Cloud FinOps capabilities and best practices within the organization
  • Own Program Management of all work within Efficiency Product backlog
  • Own resource management and career development for CFM Org

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Finance or equivalent degree and experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience10+ years relevant experience as an Information Technology or Finance professional managing IT3+ years of demonstrated experience and knowledge in public cloudExtensive experience working with technology teams with focus on financial management/FinOps of IT and cloud assetsKnowledge of IT infrastructure and public cloud conceptsExperience working with large datasets and the development of data-driven models and designs for executive materialsAbility to establish IT cost management strategies, models, processes, and toolsUnderstanding of cloud billing practices and proceduresAdvanced knowledge and skills in Excel and PowerPoint, proven knowledge of Apptio Cloudability ( or equivalent )Additional skills are a benefit: using report builders to create data visualizations, including PowerBI and or scripting via Python, BASH, SQL, R, etcAdditional credentials are a benefit : AWS, Azure and/or GCP Cloud Certification; FinOps Practitioner, Cloud Financial Management, Total Business Management or equivalent CertificationsProven experience managing a team of professionals and developing talent in a technology organizationExperience interacting with senior executives and business leaders and collaborate across organizationInterpersonal, consultative and facilitation skills, coupled with analytical thinking and problem-solving skillsOur Benefits:At PayPal, we’re committed to building an equitable and inclusive global economy.
