THE ROLE:  Sr. Cloud FinOps Engineer

Job Summary:

As a Sr. Cloud FinOps Engineer, you will be responsible for helping our clients achieve cost efficiency and financial transparency in their cloud environments. You will work closely with client teams to assess their current cloud cost structures, identify opportunities for optimization, and implement strategies to reduce costs while maintaining performance and reliability.

Travel Requirements:

In this role you will be expected to travel up to 40%.

• Position yourself as a trusted advisor to Presidio’s clients, and partner with them to deliver robust outcomes.
• Cost Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients’ Cloud cost structures, including resource usage, billing, and expenditures.
• Optimization Strategy: Develop and implement cost optimization strategies tailored to the specific needs of each client.
• Budget Planning: Assist clients in establishing and managing Cloud budgets, ensuring adherence to financial plans.
• Resource Tagging and Allocation: Advise clients on best practices for resource tagging and cost allocation to improve cost tracking and accountability.
• Cost Monitoring: Set up monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify cost anomalies or overruns.
• Cost Reporting: Generate and present regular cost reports to clients, highlighting key cost-saving opportunities and trends.
• Policy Development: Assist clients in developing and enforcing cloud financial policies and governance frameworks.
• Client Education: Educate client teams on FinOps best practices and provide training as needed.

 

Required Skills: 

• Proficiency in AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, and other cost management tools.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a consulting team.
• Experience with third-party cost management tools such as CloudHealth or Cloudability.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IAC) tools like AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Knowledge of AWS Well-Architected Framework principles.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.

Education and Experience: 

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, computer science, or equivalent experience and/or military experience.
• 6 + years of experience in cloud financial operations and cost optimization.
