We have an immediate long-term opportunity with one of our prime clients for the position of Principal DevSecOps Engineer. The role is primarily remote, but occasional on-site visits may be required.
Pay Rate : $75-$85/hr
Imp Note:-
- Location: Hybrid. Austin, Texas. During the 6-month contract period they can be remote from anywhere, but the preference is for them to be onsite once per month in Austin. Will be traveling on their own dime.
Responsibilities
- As a Principal DevSecOps Engineer, you will shape enterprise-wide cloud adoption, drive transformative initiatives (e.g., cloud governance, FinOps, IaC), and align technical execution with business outcomes for scalability, cost optimization, and innovation.
- Develop container orchestration to support the deployment and lifecycle management of applications running in AWS.
- Architect and implement robust Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform and Terraform Cloud Design and optimize secure, scalable CI/CD/CT pipelines leveraging Azure DevOps (AzDO) or other future technologies.
- Drive security automation utilizing SAST, DAST, SCA, and container scanning using tool chains as defined by the Security Department.
- Mentor and train junior members of the DevSecOps team as well as internal development customer teams in DevOps best practices and methodology.
- Act as a subject-matter-expert for the entire DevSecOps toolchain, supporting development teams across the entire enterprise for both strategic as well as operational activities.
- Collaborate with development, IT operations, and security teams to integrate security into all phases of software delivery.
- Design and build a next-generation Integrated Development Platform, leveraging GenAI and ML technologies.
- Own transformative CI/CD/CT automation, shift-left integrations, and advanced maturity models to achieve enterprise-grade DevSecOps results.
- You own proven expertise in leading large-scale on-premises transitions to AWS-ECS implementations leveraging IaC, container orchestration, and zero-downtime strategies to optimize scalability, security, and cost-efficiency.
Must Haves:
- A minimum 10 years of professional experience in DevOps and Cloud Engineering/Operations.
- At least 5 years of hands-on AWS experience, particularly with AWS-ECS and Fargate.
- At least 5 years of software development experience utilizing object-oriented development language(s) and applicable framework(s).
- Expert-level knowledge of, and experience with, Terraform and Terraform Cloud (HCP) for infrastructure automation.
- Strong proficiency with CI/CD automation, particularly using Azure DevOps and/or Jenkins/Cloudbees CI.
- Excellent understanding of, and experience with, containerization using Amazon Web Services ECS, Fargate, and/or Docker.
- Adept scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell.
- Proficiency in both Windows and Linux-based operating systems.
- Proven ability to lead initiatives, drive cultural transformation, and influence cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field.
Nice-to-Haves:
- AWS Certifications such as Solutions Architect Professional, SysOps, and DevOps Professional.
- Extensive knowledge of IAM, secrets management, zero-trust security architectures, and compliance frameworks.
- Deep understanding of observability and performance monitoring with a tool such as Dynatrace, Datadog, Splunk, New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, and/or ELK Stack.
- Hands-on experience with SonarQube (or an equivalent technology) for code quality analysis.
- Professional experience with GoLang.

- Has the potential to grow into a Supervisor or Senior Manager position.
- Looking for someone with a strong dev background, not an Ops background. Software Engineering background.
- Team is weak in their understanding of the development lifecycle.
- Building automation in QA and security to integrate into the greater environment.
- 100% hands-on keyboard/development.
- Has led significant IT infrastructure projects, contributing to the design and creating an overarching technical strategy.
- DevOps architecture is a bonus.
- Bonus if they’ve used GoLang.
- JavaScript/Angular frontend, .NET and python and typescript backend.
- Bash, python, powershell required for scripting.
- Leadership in major projects, ability to coach and mentor junior team member, work with internal customers (Product Owners, Solutions Architects, Tech Leads).
- Any monitoring tool is fine.
- Any CI/CD tool is fine.
- Dedicated security team tells them which tools to run, they configure them. Implementation arm of security department.
- Needs to be a terraform expert.
- Needs to have very solid AWS experience.
- Gcp or Azure a nice to have.
- AWS certifications (DevOps Professional and Solutions Architect Professional cert and terraform professional certifications go to the top of the resume stack.
- ECS Fargate shop. Lots of EC2s in the environment, not a main focus.
- Docker is being used.
