Cloud FinOps Principal

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the overall public cloud budget and perform budget to actual spend analysis to enhance cloud spend visibility and to identify cost optimization opportunities
  • Partner with business owners and support department level consumption spend analysis and cost savings recommendations
  • Perform cloud spend analysis, create decks and present regular operational reviews to leadership
  • Develop long-term cloud spend forecasts (i.e., three-year outlook) for company planning and meeting spend commit levels for AWS and Azure
  • Identify and implement cost allocation opportunities for both labor and shared cloud costs to support cloud TCO and to produce customer profitability analysis
  • Creates KPI metrics, analyzes spend trends, and advise on cloud spend savings opportunities
  • Participate in architectural discussions assisting R&D and product teams in modeling the cost impact of design alternatives assisting in the SaaS transition
  • Perform discounted cash flow analysis comparing on-premise costs and public cloud costs to support business case for migration to cloud
  • Conduct regular cloud FinOps trainings to stakeholders while increasing the financial acumen of the cloud engineering and support teams
  • Drive FinOps initiatives ensuring on-time and on-budget project completion

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong Financial analysis with the ability to develop and present cloud spend financial analysis results
  • Deep passion for cloud technology and ability to articulate the cloud value proposition
  • Strong knowledge of allocation and reporting tools and languages with experience leading allocation efforts
  • Skilled at building company-wide relationships and collaborating with multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills in both technical and non-technical contexts
  • Proficient working understanding of Azure and AWS cloud computing platforms and its pricing
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills in both technical and non-technical contexts
  • Proficient user of Excel, PowerPoint, and other MS Office tools

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a finance or an engineering field (e.g. Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics)
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in cloud financial analysis
