Cloud FinOps Engineer/Analyst

The Cloud Financial Operations (FinOps) Engineer/Analyst is responsible for tracking, optimizing, and managing the cloud cost at Renaissance. Responsible for identifying inefficiencies and carrying out the changes to address them. Develop a deep understanding of cloud usage across all areas and work with development, engineering, and architecture to help understand, plan and manage costs.

In this role, you will: 

  • Utilize software tools and develop automation for cloud cost optimization
  • Creating governance on cloud spend
  • Reviewing new and existing system architectures
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Operationalize FinOps frameworks, establish business processes in support of globally distributed teams, promote a culture of cost awareness and accountability
  • Build data pipelines and dashboards for cost visibility at the enterprise level while supporting individual business unit requirements
  • Develop, measure, report and maintain key performance indicators for tracking real time costs, consumption, and metrics for measuring unit economics, product level visibility
  • Partner with Finance, Operations and Engineering teams to implement cost optimization initiatives involving usage efficiencies, pricing efficiencies, deep dives into services such as compute, network, and storage usage
  • Build and deliver effective data driven presentations for various business partners on public cloud cost usage and spend insights.
  • Continuously monitor public cloud provider discount commitments (like Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, committed use discounts) with the vital governance, processes, and tooling and ensure key coverage and utilization metrics are trending in the right direction
  • Work with Cloud Service Providers (AWS, GCP Azure) teams to implement best practices in automations, new vendor related cost optimization programs and other initiatives
  • Support Business Unit, Procurement, and other teams with subject matter expertise on forecasting and cloud costing models.
  • Provide cost analysis and reports to management and peers
  • Work with DevOps engineers to identify utilized resources and cost-effective infrastructure
  • Work with Development teams to identify rationale for cost anomaly and take corrective action
  • Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the teams
  • Monitor Cost Management dashboards and budgets
  • Collaborate with IT leadership and Finance on Total Cost of Ownership, cloud optimization and capacity management, hybrid infrastructure management including cloud migration costing, financial metrics, and cost transparency initiatives.

Qualifications

For this role, you must have: 

  • Knowledge of software development requirements combined with an expertise in finding optional and cost-efficient solutions for deployment in the cloud.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with AWS Tagging
  • Experience working cross-functionally, enterprise-wide, with all levels of team members, project leads, management and vendor partners.
  • FinOps certified

Bonus points for: 

  • Adaptive, flexible and responsive to challenges, change and customer business cultures.
  • Understanding of cloud-based services usage, structure, discount, and pricing
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and provide insights
  • Ability to bridge finance and technology
  • Experience with cloud cost management tools such as Azure Cost Management, AWS Cost Explorer, AWS QuickSight e, etc.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets
  • Experience in creating visualization dashboards
  • AWS certified: Cloud Solution Ops

Additional Information

Salary Range: $80,000 -$120,000. This range is based on national market data and may vary by experience and location.
