Public Cloud Cost Manager

This is a hands-on role responsible for sophisticated cloud spend analytics, cloud cost optimization and cloud cost management platform. Public Cloud Enablement team is passionate about providing access to the cloud resources (Amazon Web Services AWS, Google Cloud Platform GCP, Microsoft Azure) for internal software engineering teams. It serves as a connection point between business units, finance, accounting, technical sourcing and cloud service providers.
Your Impact:
● As a domain expert, provide insights into structure of cloud cost elements, analysis of trends and factors influencing cloud spend.
● Identify and implement measures to optimize/reduce cloud cost
● Build and support BI and Analytical solutions related to the cloud spend.
● Help businesses to optimized their cloud cost at the high level (reserved instances, committed usage discounts, cost savings plans, etc.) as well as resource-level (analyze
usage of resources, shut down under-utilized resources, develop automation strategies)
● Develop and maintain reports, dashboards and related configuration data
● Build plans and forecasts related to the resource usage and cloud spend
● Establish governing frameworks around usage and spend optimization.
● Leverage Cloud Cost Management platform (CloudHealth) for cost analytics. Perform administrative tasks related to the user access, maintenance of configuration data, connection to the new cloud resources and other related tasks.
● Work with Accounting and Finance to supervise public cloud spend
● Help businesses to establish accurate public cloud cost management processes (cost allocation, purchase orders, accounting information, configuration data, etc.)
● Work multi-functionally and advise regularly on service optimization, efficiencies and cost saving opportunities related to cloud services.
● Partner regularly with key collaborators (i.e., Finance, R&D Leaders, Engineering, etc.) on spend variance analysis and forecasting.
● Manage relationship with Cloud Service Providers
● Design, build, and maintain processes to turn source data into useful information
● Develop technical and functional documentation related to technical solutions and business processes.
Required Qualifications:
● Experience with cloud infrastructure and cloud management tools
● Hands-on experience with AWS environment (navigating resources, check configuration,
perform maintenance and configuration tasks, investigate anomalies)
● Excellent mathematical and analytical skills, experience with working with large datasets.
● Experience crafting critical metrics in easily consumable reports
● Experience with Business Intelligence (BI) tools like Tableau
● Practical knowledge of SQL
● Hands-on experience drafting and running SQL data sets for analytical purposes
● Good interpersonal skills; ability to connect with both technical and non-
technical experts up to the senior/executive level
● Demonstrable ability to influence across varying levels of an organization in a fast-paced work
environment ​
● Degree or equivalent relevant experience required. Experience will be evaluated based on the core competencies for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer roles, work experience, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
● Architect/Administrator experience with multiple clouds (AWS, GCP, Azure)
● Experience automating reports and reporting systems, including data gathering and
processing
● Experience with CloudHealth cost management platform
