- Drive the establishment of the various pillars of a Cloud Business Office
- Drive adoption of Cloud FinOps capabilities and best practices within the organization
- Provide ongoing cost transparency and governance by developing cost management processes, mechanisms, and controls
- Deliver cost management solutions through transparency and optimization
- Identify cost savings and optimization opportunities in partnership with application engineering teams
- Track cost optimization results and associated values
- Work with vendors and service providers to establish and manage value opportunities such as reserved instances, savings plans, credits, etc.
- Establish training and communication plans to drive cross-functional engagements across business and technology teams
- Develop and manage complete cloud infrastructure financial plan, budgets and spend forecasts
- Establish and manage cloud spend governance process including facilitation of the Garmin Cloud Review Board
- Analyze data and produce quantitative financial models and dashboards to track and forecast spend
- Provide weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports of cloud consumption metrics with recommendations to drive savings and efficiencies
- Work closely with Corporate Finance team as needed to manage plans
- Work closely with Procurement to drive negotiations around EDP and other discount programs
- Create and maintain internal documentation on FinOps and cost optimization processes and consumer environments
- Provide cost comparison, cost optimization and justification metrics for new cloud deployment requests and cloud migrations across private and public clouds
- Develop strategic relationships with CSP’s on future enhancements to help with cloud management
- Cultivate a strong understanding of Capacity Planning, Performance Management and Cloud Cost Management at an Enterprise level
- Develop and implement cloud request intake and onboarding technology and practices
- Lead regular cadence calls providing expert advice and consulting on cloud financial management activities
- Configure and manage cloud cost optimization tools
- Develop presentation content to business and technology stakeholders
- Support consumers in understanding their cloud bills based on their business goals and budget
- Provide operational spend trends and anomaly alerting with early intervention
- Creation of business chargeback, cost recovery models, TCO and capacity planning
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Finance or equivalent degree and experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- 5+ years relevant experience as an Information Technology or Finance professional managing IT
- 3+ years of demonstrated experience and knowledge in public cloud
- Extensive experience working with technology teams with focus on financial management/FinOps of IT and cloud assets
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure and public cloud concepts
- Experience working with large datasets and the development of data-driven models and designs for executive materials
- Able to work independently and proactively towards establishing and completing goals
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience interacting with senior executives and business leaders
- Strong ability to analyze and interpret data and provide insights
- Ability to establish IT cost management strategies, models, processes, and tools
- Experience with Cost Explorer, Cost and Usage Reports, Reserved Instances, vendor discounts and other AWS, Azure, GCP cost mechanics
- Understanding of cloud billing practices and procedures

- Proficiency with Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Additional skills using report builders to create data visualizations
- Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills
- Interpersonal, consultative and facilitation skills, coupled with analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- AWS Cloud Practitioner certification or equivalent knowledge
- 3+ years experience in a cloud business operations role with an emphasis on forecast accuracy and cost optimization
- AWS, Azure and/or GCP Cloud Certifications
- Scripting or data science experience via Python, BASH, SQL, R, etc.
- FinOps Practitioner, Cloud Financial Management, Total Business Management or equivalent Certifications
- Proven track record of developing frameworks to solve ambiguous problems and leveraging data to derive insights that lead to actionable recommendations
- IT-related coursework and aptitude
