The Role
The SAM Analyst is responsible for ensuring that the IT Software Assets across the estate are managed and controlled in an effective, efficient and secure manner. You will be accountable for licensing activities and will ensure purchases are made in the most effective manner whilst remaining compliant with legal and licencing obligations. The role primarily focusses on purchased entitlements, deployments, risk management and governance.
Key responsibilities:
- Answering Tier 1 Licensing Knowledge queries (Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, SAP, RedHat and SUSE)
- Producing ELPs regularly to maximise ROI and drive cost optimisation
- Leading vendor audits and representing the organisation in a professional manner
- Analysing and understanding usage for key Engineering applications (Siemens, Dassault and Mathworks)
- Ensuring software license entitlement information is loaded accurately and clauses are fully understood
- Working with Snow License Manager and Snow for Engineering daily
- Responsible for operating and maintaining SAM policies, process and standards
- Attending and representing SAM at various governance forums
- Reviewing complex licensing terms and contracts
- Contributing to an ongoing reduction of risk through reducing renewal costs, identifying cost saving opportunities and providing an insight into license utilisation and spend.
