Purpose of the role

 

As a FinOps Analyst, you will support the day-to-day execution of our FinOps practices across cloud platforms, with a primary focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will help in cost tracking, data analysis, anomaly detection, and identifying cost optimization opportunities. This role is ideal for someone with a foundational understanding of GCP and cloud computing, strong analytical curiosity, and a passion for learning and innovation.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

·       Assist in daily FinOps operations across GCP, Azure, and other cloud/SaaS platforms.

·       Support the analysis of cloud usage data to identify cost anomalies, trends, and potential inefficiencies.

·       Help maintain and update cost dashboards and reports using tools such as BigQuery, Looker, or Tableau under guidance from senior team members.

·       Proactively identify & discover optimization opportunities and drive them with project team to get desired outcome.

·       Collaborate with across within CPCI and D&T functions and work on various technical requirements and identifying optimal functioning of services/products consumed by various teams.

·       Familiar with basic/beginner level of GCP technologies and able to identify optimization opportunities.

·       Contribute to FinOps meetings like the practitioner connect, director meetings and other similar connect upcoming in future.

·       Identifying automation opportunities within current processes for more productive outcome.

·       Provide basic troubleshooting support on billing discrepancies and platform usage anomalies.

·       Work closely with platform leads and other technical teams to execute cost-saving initiatives.

·       Well versed with agile methodologies and standards to lead stand-up’s and sprint meetings.

·       Assist in maintaining documentation, best practices, and playbooks for cloud cost management.

·       Contribute ideas for automation and process improvements within FinOps workflows.

·       Participate in FinOps onboarding and training sessions to build awareness within engineering and product teams.

·       Stay updated with GCP service changes and explore innovative ways to manage and optimize cloud costs.

·       Conducting maturity assessment for Finops functions and driving few areas to improvise the maturity.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong interest in cloud cost management and financial governance.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced cloud environment.
  • Having basic financial understanding/knowledge of budgeting, chargeback, actual vs spends, overrun & underrun
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with FinOps principles and cloud optimization strategies.
  • Exposure to other cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Ali Cloud) or SaaS billing models.
  • Experience working with data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau).
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills to identify new ways of enhancing cost transparency.
  • Basic scripting knowledge (e.g., Python, Shell) for automation or data extraction tasks will be added advantage.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Basic understanding of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, billing, and resource structures.
  • GCP certification related to cloud engineer or digital leader will be added advantage.
  • Should be well versed with few GCP services like compute, BigQuery, IaaS, CUD’s, Composer etc.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and ability to spot trends and anomalies in data.
  • FinOps certification & GCP engineer certification will be added advantage.
