The role

As part of the Microsoft Advisory Services (MAS) team, the Technical Consultant will work to deliver a consultative experience to SoftwareONE customers about their Microsoft Licensing and technology investment strategy. The Technical Consultant will apply their Microsoft technology and business case knowledge to assist with licensing dependencies and financial impact, The ability to communicate across various industry and leadership levels to discover future business requirements and deliver analysis that enable organizations to build a business case based on  due diligence when investing in Microsoft technologies and contracts.  The Technical Consultant also helps push the MAS department forward by innovating new ways to interpret, present, and deliver new intellectual property.

This is a dynamic position that requires the individual to stay current on all things Microsoft, including product dependencies and translate products into solution sets. The candidate will work closely with the Licensing Consultants to provide option analyses, prepare and  relevant customer presentations,, and deliver professional communication.

 

The MAS team is a close and welcoming group of consultants who take considerable pride in delivering exceptional services to its clients. The team regularly receives top marks on customer surveys and is generally regarded as experts in the field of Microsoft contract and renewal consulting.

 

Responsibilities

  • Directly performing Microsoft workshops, including discovery of Microsoft technology usage and strategic direction, as well as “knowledge transfer” of relevant product information.
  • Presenting analyses and outcomes to all level of business and technical stakeholders.
  • Analyzing and fully understanding MLS reports and supply clear, understandable licensing estate visuals.
  • Thinking and acting independently to solve customer problems.
  • Creating and developing new and innovative content for service delivery.
  • Maintaining knowledge related to Microsoft software licensing, ITAM, IT security, digital experience, automation and cloud services.
  • Upholding SoftwareONE values and acting as an integral part of a successful team of consultants.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Deep understanding of infrastructure impacts to Microsoft Licensing (SQL/Win Server/System Center/Azure).
  • Analyze customer’s current deployment for discovering options for optimizing licensing costs.
  • Creating future state analysis and reports for the customers.
  • Present technical content during multi-day engagements.
  • Understanding of Cloud Financial Spend concepts (FinOps certification a plus).
  • Leading execution of projects by managing your tasks and those executed by supporting team members .
  • Execution of individual tasks on projects based on the guidance provided by the Team Leads.
  • Management of deliverables for quality across assigned team members & ensuring 100% adherence to quality standards.
  • Ensuring 100% process adherence and delivery within the defined SLA.
  • 5+ years professional experience.
  • Microsoft Security and Compliance Knowledge .
  • Office 365 Knowledge.
  • ITAM/ITIL knowledge (certification a plus).
  • SQL Technology and Licensing knowledge.
  • Azure Experience a plus.
  • Data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Experienced in customer facing onsite presentations.
  • Proven business acumen.
  • Must work well both independently and in group settings.
  • Flexible schedule with potential travel requirements.

What we need to see from you

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience consulting with large organizations about software licensing.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience interacting with senior executives and IT stakeholders.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience working with Microsoft Software Licensing.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge around AWS/GCP/Azure, primarily as it relates to Microsoft licensing.

Target compensation for this role will be $120-130K (mix of base salary and bonus) and will be determined based on candidate qualifications, experience, and location.
