Cloud FinOps Analyst | Cloud Cost Optimization

Tenable is seeking a skilled and motivated mid-level Cloud DevFinOps Analyst with a strong technical background to join our dynamic team. This role offers a blend of software engineering, cloud infrastructure expertise, and data-driven financial analysis. You will be at the forefront of ensuring our cloud environments are optimized for both performance and cost-effectiveness.

Your Opportunity:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
  • Analyze cloud spend across all Tenable products, identifying areas for improvement and efficiency gains.
  • Develop and execute strategies to optimize cloud spend, monitor usage, and identify potential overruns or budget constraints.
  • Stay informed of industry trends and best practices in cloud cost management.
  • Create and maintain reports and dashboards to track and communicate cloud spend and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Implement and maintain cost allocation methodologies for accurate tracking and allocation of cloud costs.
  • Analyze and recommend cost-effective solutions for new cloud technologies and services.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine processes and procedures related to cloud financial operations.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks associated with cloud cost management.

What You’ll Need:

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in Cloud / Site Reliability Engineering, or a DevOps-related role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency:
    • Programming with Python.
    • SQL and database querying.
    • Understanding of REST APIs.
    • Working with cloud data formats (JSON, YAML, etc.).
  • Solid Understanding:
    • Major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
    • Cloud architecture principles and resource provisioning concepts.
  • Experience working with one or more of various cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP, Snowflake, Datadog)
  • Excellent presentation skills, comfortable presenting and discussing cost initiatives and implications.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and solve complex cloud cost issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.

And Ideally:

  • Experience driving cost optimization initiatives within cloud environments.
  • Cost optimization techniques (right-sizing, instance scheduling, reserved instances, etc.).
  • Experience with cloud optimization and financial management practices.
  • Understanding of cloud pricing models, cost allocation methodologies, and chargeback practices.
  • Familiarity with cloud cost management tools and platforms (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, CloudHealth).
  • Experience deploying distributed, microservice oriented application
  • Ability to communicate with Development leads and understand technical decisions, and translate concepts into non-technical language.
  • Familiarity with relevant FinOps tools and methodologies (e.g., FinOps Foundation principles) is preferred.
  • Confident self-starter and change agent, with proven ability to drive initiatives to completion.
  • Strong problem solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
  • Experience with Helm, Terraform, Kubernetes
  • Understanding of multi-tenancy and security implications
