Cloud FinOps Engineer

The Cloud FinOps Engineer will report to the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE) function.  The role is responsible for defining cloud financial controls, tags, allocations, budgets, and processes. As part of the role, the incumbent will work with the teams responsible for product development, support, and execution to implement financial controls and related governance principles.

The role involves monitoring cloud spend on a regular cadence and preparing weekly and monthly reports for review. Identify, analyze, and prioritize cloud optimization recommendations and calculate potential savings. Develop expert knowledge of cloud cost optimization strategies (e.g. rightsizing, power scheduling). Ensuring that optimization recommendations are processed according to the appropriate governance process and are implemented. Implement cost optimization recommendations and best practices in collaboration with the Engineering teams.

• Cloud financial management and cost optimization.
• Financial management strategy and tactics.
• Knowledge and understanding of Public Cloud pricing schemes (AWS Preferred).
• Experience with native and 3rd party Public Cloud cost management & advisory tools (AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Trusted Advisor).
• Experience with data analysis and data visualization tools (AWS Quicksight, PowerBI).
• Software and/or Product development lifecycle knowledge.
• Written and verbal technical and non-technical communication capabilities
• FinOps Certified Practitioner or related certification/experience (AWS Preferred).

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information technology or an alternate combination of education/experience in the equivalent job knowledge and skills.
• 3 years of relevant experience in Cloud FinOps/Cloud Spend optimization.
• Experience of the core Finance principles and basic understanding of the corporate accounting process (forecast, invoicing, chargeback, etc)

• Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
• Strong knowledge of technology and how it can be used to increase productivity.
• Project management, time management and follow-up skills with attention to detail.
• Practical knowledge and/or experience in functional areas being supported desired.
• Proficiency with desktop office automation tools required.
• Critical thinker with demonstrated problem-solving skills.
• Strong ability to collaborate.
• Strong dedication to the development of customer-centric standards and solutions.
• Agile and iterative development practices and lifecycle workflows
• Latest cloud offerings and services (AWS Preferred)
