Essential skills:

 

  • FinOps Certified.
  • Consultancy experience – minimum 5 years’ experience.
  • Cloud cost optimisation – minimum 2 years’ experience.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of Cloud Infrastructure and terminology.
  • Certification in one or more Cloud infrastructure technologies (AWS, Azure and/or GCP).
  • Hands on experience with public cloud billing with reporting analysis tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft productivity tools (Office 365 – especially MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Excellent presentation, communication and relationship building skills.
  • Good understanding of Agile Delivery methods
  • Technology / Business degree

 

Advantageous:

 

You must be able to solve complex problems through oriented model real life financial dilemmas, leveraging Budgeting & Management techniques, analysing and developing Documentation. Have effective knowledge of Finance and Billing cadence, proven ability of budget and forecasting costs.

· Knowledge and/or experience in:

  • Kubernetes
  • ServiceNow
  • CMDB
  • ITOM
  • TCO, and capacity planning.

· Provide cloud cost expertise, advice, governance, and controls (showback / chargeback models / budgets and forecasting/ tag strategy and compliance)

· Fulfil Consulting Engagements as lead on the OPEX budgets and OPEX spend.

· Central part of a leading Cloud Optimisation team using MS Azure providing timely insight,

· financial control and improving the unit economics of cloud.

· Deliver Data reporting, Unit economics cloud financial management roadmap.

· Identifying continuous improvement opportunities

· Collaborate with vendor partners whilst actively developing and maintaining strategic IT cost outs and maintaining relationships.

· Identifying additional opportunities within intelligent MI delivery lifecycle

· Board level, ensuring all financial information is available to make informed commercial decisions on future plans / projects.

· Oversee Financial Budgeting processes for Cloud Services.

· Proposed chargeback model direct to business, piloting leading application as POC receiving signoff by the business, providing greater transparency to business areas on the cloud bill and their proportional charge.

Essential Skills

  • Strong and practical knowledge of Infrastructure and Operations landscape with a focus on public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) technology and how it differs from traditional computing (AWS & Azure certifications preferred)
  • IAC/Coding proficiency required (AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, JSON, Python, YAML, etc)
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft productivity tools (Office 365 – especially MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Have empathy with the customers and users we support as well as colleagues
  • Growth mindset is mandatory
  • Ability to communicate at all levels within an organisation and influence leadership
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, making decisions based upon priorities, schedules and an understanding of business initiatives

Typical Duties of the Cloud Optimisation Manager:

  • Delivery:
  • Extract and analyse large scale data within cloud billing and usage, to support colleagues and clients in decision making.
  • Lead and contribute to continuous improvement of spend analytics, ensuring it advises engineering and product leads by highlighting meaningful metrics, patterns, and forecasts
  • Identify, establish and develop strategies with leads in cross-organisational initiatives targeting usage optimisation.
  • Describe and execute opportunities for price optimisations and partnerships, including management of commitments (reserved instances), in close connection with infrastructure and cloud vendors.
  • Provide technical assistance to internal team members in delivery.
  • Build sound relationships, consistently work with feedback, and clearly communicate expectations with team members and partners.
  • Using and applying FinOps techniques in Cloud Technologies and Services, Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban), and IT Operations based on the ITIL Framework.

o Your day-to-day duties will be using to the following tools and practices on a regular basis: MS Productivity Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Teams), budgeting, management, documentation, finance, AWS, Azure, billing, cadence, communication, business, budgets, forecasts, cost and Business Management.

  • Pre-Sales & Sales Activities:
  • Support the sales team in the development of proposals, bids and pre-sales briefings to clients.
  • Provide pre-sales consultancy to our clients where needed.

 

  • Practice Development:
  • Be an ambassador for our optimisation efforts, aspiring for industry leadership within the cloud FinOps community.
  • Maintain and share knowledge of relevant market developments within the domain.
  • Contribute to Marketing content such as White Papers, Service Offering descriptions, etc.
