What You Will Do
The FinOps Engineer will be responsible for managing and optimizing cloud financial operations. This role is crucial in driving cost efficiency, establishing financial accountability within the cloud infrastructure, and ensuring the financial sustainability of cloud operations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, and a passion for cost management.
- Develop and maintain cloud financial management practices and policies.
- Collaborate with engineering, finance, and operations teams to establish financial accountability.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on cloud spending, usage, and trends.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement cost optimization strategies.
- Develop and maintain financial models to forecast cloud costs and usage.
- Implement and manage tools for cloud cost management and optimization.
- Provide training and guidance to teams on FinOps best practices.
- Ensure compliance with cloud financial policies and procedures.
What Skills & Experience You Should Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in cloud financial management, cloud cost optimization, or related roles.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Proficient in financial modeling and analysis.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, execute, and oversee projects to successful completion.
- Experience with cloud cost management tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
Preferred Skills
- FinOps Certified Practitioner or equivalent certification.
- Experience with automated cloud cost optimization tools.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Domo, Power BI).
